skybytch 259 #2 April 6, 2001 Buy it for historical value only. Jump it occasionally if you want to see what skydiving was like almost 20 years ago. IMHO that rig is not safe for anything other than belly flying; don't limit yourself, if you're going for used gear buy something built within the past 10 years or less that has a square reserve and more secure main and reserve flaps. Yooper 0 #4 April 6, 2001 I agree with skybytch. that old stuff is fun to play with, but even I don't jump it on a regular basis. look through the classifed. there's over 100 complete rigs for sale right now. i just bought a 3 year old reflex in perfect condition for $300. there's all kinds of deals on there. you just have to look for them. Vector 3, Javelin, Wings, Reflex, Infinity... imho any of those (and there are others too) are good for freeflying if they are of the newer designs. Avoid any container with velcro, be sure that it has a BOC, save yourself some coin and buy something that has a one pin reserve (two pin Cypres' are more expensive than one pin), don't be picky about colors, make sure you can try it on/jump it before making the sale final.Get a square reserve, preferably one built within the past 10 years with none or very few jumps on it. Main choice depends on your budget. If you're really broke a main like the one in the rig you mentioned would work fine until you can afford to buy something zp, although I wouldn't recommend that particular main if your body weight is 200lbs+.
