Future Tandem Pilot Question

Recommended Posts

He needs to get a class 3 fight physical but that has nothing to do with the rods in his leg. As long as he can perform the job of a tandem instructor as far as physically get in and out of the plane and perform the skydive he should be just fine

I know a TI who has rods in both femurs, and a screw (or maybe 2) in his pelvis.

It doesn't present a problem getting his 3rd class.

The long-term question is whether the rods increase the risk of re-fracturing his leg bones.
Students do stupid stuff during landings. TIs often jolt their leg bones and I have seen a dozen TIs sprain or break their legs even after they flew a perfect approach.
