the best place to get a TI rating?

Recommended Posts

first of all i would like to say that i posted this here cause i wanted to hear from TI video flyers and coaches. if the mods don't think it should be here then please move it.

my friend and I are talking about going somewhere for the winter maybe after X-mas maybe as late as spring and getting about 400 jumps. i know this means being at one place for a long time and we are both ok with that.

so here are things to take into acount.

1:we both want to be TIs so it would be nice to go somewhere that after all of this if we prove are selves there might be a job openning for us.

2: the chance to do some coaching or fly video for tandems to pay for as many jumps as we can.

3: places that we could pull a small trailer or at the lest set up a tent

4: the cost of jumps to be low. lodi looks really good at 13 bucks a jump! but are there any other places out there that are cheaper if you buy 50 jump tickets at ones or something like that? anything around 13 to 18 bucks a jump would be cool if its a good place to learn

5: a good place to hang out maybe with a city (the bigger the better) close by that would be a good getaway. top points if there is a beach close by

6: a DZ that we can jump at lest 6 days a week

so that is what i'm looking for in no real order... i guess the biggest thing would be getting a chance to coach and fly video. that and the cheaper the better

so where did you learn to teach TI or video? how was it? and would you go back and do it at the same place again?

do you know any places that meet all or some of what i'm looking for?

i hope to have my coach 1 next week so i think thats a good start!

thanks for any input
Cheers

Second vote for leaning under Jay Stokes at Elsinore.

I earned my FAA Master Rigger license while working in Elsinore and Perris and Hemet, California. Riverside County has some of the best DZs in the USA, wind tunnel, etc. and the beach at Dana Point is only an hour over the Ortega Highway.

While Lodi might have the cheapest jump tickets ... you get what you pay for ... Lodi might allow you to bore the most holes in the sky per dollar, but you might not learn much.

How much you learn depends upon your curiosity.

Working as a coach or outside videographer is problematic in the USA. US Immigration Laws have gotten much tighter in this century. Any American DZ that will allow you to work "under the table" might treat you like a slave ... the same way they treat the millions of Central American slaves ... er ... day-labourers when mow their lawns, wash their dishes, pick their fruit, build their houses and nanny their children.

Speaking of slavery ... pay up your Canadian medical insurance ... including coverage for ambulances back to Canada ... before you cross the border.

Why don't you tell us how you really feel.

Next you're going to cry about not being able to vote. :|

Yes,
Canadian public medical insurance is head-and-shoulders better than American public medical insurance, but remember to purchase some additional insurance before you head south of the border, even if your additional insurance only covers air ambulances.

I don't care about cheap jumps but I'd love to know where I can find the DZ with all these services! :)
