BMFin 0 #1 September 14, 2007 Hello ! Im visiting Malaysia this winter and would be interested to visit the tunnel. The big question is, can you freefly there ? How comfortable ? And will they let you freefly there ? I did a search and some said you can, some said you cant.. The prices seemed good.. If its freeflyable, I think I must visit them. tunnelfly 0 #2 September 14, 2007 Last time I worked in KL ('03), I went to the tunnel once to twice a week. I had lot's of fun and regret, I couldn't go more often... http://www.mypage.bluewin.ch/aschibli/img/S00401.JPG If your wingloading is accurate, you better bring a baggy suit.for freeflying. KL is a hot place, the whole casino/theme park complex is built on a mountain (thinner air) and it's almost the oldest SV ... If you've been freeflying in another SV, they most likely let you do it there too. And if not, it's probably the cheapest place to get an IBA rating (just an assumption, ring 'em up to confirm). My advice: go and try it out. But don't waste time, you might want go again. No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity... cam 0 #3 September 15, 2007 I went there in May this year - hadn't been in a tunnel before, so no basis for comparison.. they let me try to freefly, tho I kind of sucked in my attempts, and stuck to my belly most of the time. I think some people manage to sitfly ok, but a baggy suit would defintely help. I have a feeling that even max power was not great.. but that could be my lack of experience with tunnels. in short - if you explain yourself and show that you can fly on your belly, I would think they would let you try. they are nice guys, too bad it's in the most revolting place (the casino building and "fun" park were about the grottiest things I have seen in years). but it's only an hour or so from KL - definitely worth a visit. faizalomar 0 #4 September 20, 2007 Hi, I'm Faizal from Kuala Lumpur, basically i'm flying there almost every week. Yes, you can freefly there should be no problem. If the earth 25% land that make us 75% superior
stormywinters 1 #5 September 20, 2007 I thought the Casino and "Fun" park was super cool. Not to mention it had a great view there in the mountains/ jungle. You can freefly in this tunnel, yet, size, and skill level will play a huge role in your success. If they were to run the fans up at top speed, the average guy could sitfly(165lb). Any heavier than that, you will need a baggy suit and/or your slow fall rate. BIG guys.... have a hard time. Still, lots of fun!!! The staff there are SUPER COOL!! BMFin 0 #7 January 26, 2008 I flew an hour at the tunnel on the 20th of january. The staff was very nice and professional. They were pretty laidback and it was nice that they let me freefly without doing the kind of slow progression what you might have to do somewhere else.. (belly-backfly-sit-HD..) After about 5 minutes of warming up I was sitlying (or trying to) I felt the tunnel wasnt powerful enough to freefly comfortably. Though im relatively light weight I had to fly really slow sitly to stay up. (with a baggyish suit) Propably carving HD is possible, but the tunnel is pretty small so I felt I wasnt skilled enough to try it since theres not much room. The diameter is 11 feet i think. Definetly worth a visit if you are in the area. It is the cheapest tunnel there is I think. Less than 6 USD for a minute.
Peter123 0 #8 February 24, 2008 Hello! I flew 7,5 hours at skyventure genting a few months ago. I thing it is definitely the most flying for your money anywhere in the world. At least if you are doing beginning freefly & solo stuff. Sure, it´s not the strongest tunnel, but you can easily do everything on your back, belly, transitions etc. I did a lot of head up and it is a little more tricky and you have to fly a pretty slow bodyposition, but once you get the hang of that, it´s a really good skill to have and it will make flying any other tunnel easy ;-) I was able to take of flying static on my head, but barely (I´m skinny and had a BIG suite) and it´s definitely not the reason to go there... bla bla bla, I am tired and ramblig now, so I´ll stop now, but all in all I just want to say: GO FOR IT PS: I will probably be organizing camps there in the future, so if anyone reading this would like to recieve info about that, just PM me and I´ll ad you to my mail list...
