Investor Group Announces Major Progress on SkyVenture Philadelphia

On-site construction has begun on the SkyVenture vertical wind tunnel at the Franklin Mills Mall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, planning to open fall, 2007.

Philadelphia, PA, May 26, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The official groundbreaking on February 16 marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of SkyVenture Philadelphia. The 12-foot 1000-horsepower recirculating SkyVenture tunnel in Pennsylvania has a target opening date of fall, 2007. Structural components will be delivered in April following the completion of the foundation.

Chester Schwartz, SkyVenture Philadelphia principal, has teamed up with three other investors to fund the $4.2-million project.

“We’ve been planning to build a SkyVenture for a while now,” says Schwartz. “It’s just been a matter of where to do so. I believe this location is exactly what we have been looking for, and the business model is perfectly suited for it.”

SkyVenture Philadelphia is situated in an area tailored for the entertainment experience. The tunnel sits directly adjacent to an AMC movie theater, a skateboard park, and a Dave & Busters. It is less than nine miles from downtown Philadelphia, the largest city in Pennsylvania, and the fifth most populous city in the United States.

The tunnel will serve a mixed clientele expected to include approximately 80% entertainment customers and 20% skydiving aficionados. The 12R4-1000 model is well suited to accommodate this wide range of customers.

Skydivers will be happy to know that SkyVenture Philadelphia is a short drive from two of the nation’s premier skydiving facilities, CrossKeys and The Ranch.

SkyVenture’s wall-to-wall airflow, multiple downstream fans and other proprietary technologies create the safest and most accurate freefall simulation available. SkyVenture is the overwhelming choice of professional an recreational skydivers because it’s virtually identical to freefall.

“We’ve really developed as a company,” says SkyVenture CEO Alan Metni. “We have sold more than 24 vertical wind tunnels, ten of them this year. Our product line is continually growing as we design newer generation tunnels.”

I am sure that it is in the same listing as NY. That one is due to open soon! See listing below off of the skyventure site.
The truth of it is that SkyVenture never updates the site nor do they post REAL dates. Unless you drive by and see the construction... don't believe that it is there.
