What was this group? Never heard of it before.

2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

In researching this assn I found this unrelated but interesting article from the Sept 29 1940 issue of the Milwaukee Sentinel. It's about civilians participating in a "volunteer parachute jumping course". See attached.

Barnstormers at airshows. The Russians had military jumpers before the war, but it was the Germans who showed what they could do. The Brits and Americans followed their lead, although the Fallschirmjager were not used again as parachute troops after they were savaged on Crete.

Before WW2 the only western military personnel who had anything to do with parachutes would have been pilots and aircrew.
