Bounce proofing your logbook - a tradition

Recommended Posts

Just a little time wasting here on History & Trivia:

Apparently one tradition is to have the last space in a brand new logbook signed off for good luck -- With the idea that you should then live to fill all the jump entries that logbook.

I had never heard of this tradition until recently.

Any comments?

a few of us out there still remember that.....however, I should tell you the rest of the story....seems like what you heard was true, but only part of it....the other part....3-5 cases of cold beer at the end of day for those supporters of the legend....you might check and see what the guys at your dz prefer for brand....or if they have any alternate requests instead of beer.....

Colonel Kittinger did that in one of my logbooks without hesitation or request. Just flipped to the back of the logbook and wrote, "Blue Skies!!!" "Now start a new logbook."

Makes me wonder if it's something brought over from the older piloting world?
Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
