Canopy - unique

This is a garden-variety Pioneer lo-po, DOM July 64. It is, however, unique in one respect.
Care to explain why?

To clarify....ignore the patches, the ugliness.
When new, it was the only one like it, although essentially a stock canopy.
It still is.
Why?

Is that a double line attachment? Has it had a gore removed and the line doubled so it stays centered?

I'm also tempted to agree with the taffeta issue.

Dunno for sure, but it really looks weird - even beyond the hideous color pattern.

I would guess that it has alternating block and bias gore patterns. Maybe that was the motivation for the color pattern?

Hi howard,

Since you say 'garden-variety lo-po' that would mean that it is bias-construction ( not block; that just looks possible since it is distorted as it is hanging ) and that it is made of 1.6 material ( not taffeta; which is a fabric & not a method of construction ).

Is it a single-T 28 ft reserve?

There really aren't any "double lines" or other strange construction things. There is a conventional vent (with a vent cap.).
As there was no wind today , we couldn't inflate it so had to drape it on the Otter mockup and other assorted things.
The uniqueness is more of a sales/marketing thing than a design/construction thing.

Don't know what is unique about it but it sure looks like there are two lines going to some of the attachment points. Are there? If so that's something I've never seen before.

It's a Pioneer 28-foot lopo with a Hustler modification.
Only someone with a old Pioneer catalog or ads is gonna figger this one out.

How about a demo canopy for the 1st National Skydiving Convention June 8-15, 1965 in Las Vegas, NV, sponsored by the Hotel Thunderbird?

The mags then (64-65) did not have Pioneer ads.
