I don't think we can know the answer that question until it's tested. It's a long shot for sure.

I think it will be multiple donors everywhere you look in this case, due to the evidence available. The cig butts were lost but were handled? The drink cup lost but handled...?

Probably right. However, shroud lines in a reserve chute are not frequently handled. They are usually packed and forgotten. I doubt the FBI handled the shroud lines as much as the tie. So, perhaps we might only find Cooper's and Cossey's.

The cig butts weren’t lost but we’re intentionally destroyed by the Vegas office for lacking evidentiary value. We have the FBI files confirming it. This likely occurred in Dec 71 once Vegas got the butts back from the crime lab.

Very forward thinking on their part! ?

My advice is to NEVER prejudge these things. Let the evidence speak for itself before judging anything .... because you dont have evidence until testing is done.

A headlamp was retrieved from a junk yard eight years after a hit-and-run cold case in Appelton WI. The lab person was interested to know if the sealed beam filament was distended at any angle other than the normal. The lamp was opened and the filament presented a distention at about 20* from normal to the right indicating a right side impact when the lights were on and hot, with something some time during the headlight's lifetime. With that information the former owner of the car came forward to a Judge and admitted she had been the driver of the car in the unsolved 3:00am hit and run cold case. There was a  media circus over this ... with gratitude from the family of the deceased student jogger.

Agree completely. There's no harm in testing these things. Could you be a huge nothingburger? Sure. Won't know until we try.

Would the FBI release the finger print and palm print data it has?  We know (I guess) this data figured heavily in the FBI's analysis of suspects. Maybe we are looking in the wrong cupboard for what the FBI is willing to release and comment constructively about ?

No, FOIA won’t allow for the release of unidentified prints.

No. as far as I know. But my vision is poor and my 'vision' even poorer!  ^_^  My guess is he's on vacation by his own choice - a temporary condition.  I look for his return at any moment.

I don't know. Just... sometimes you guys get into it a bit, that comment Chaucer made the other day, he hasn't been here for a while... just made me wonder.

Well I’ve never reported him to a mod for anything he has said to me. If others do then that’s one thing, but it’s not me doing it. I don’t want to see him banned because they’d remove all his posts and he’s posted some valuable info over the years.

FOIA needs a serious overhaul.

I kind of think Fingerprints and DNA require some lateral thinking in perception, but likely not in process. If the circumstances were right  - I think there is the possibility these elements could be affirmed.

I'd like to dive into the fingerprints and DNA but don't have time to give it 100%. Maybe I'll toss up what I have in a week and build on that slowly.

You can't ban FLY-

He sustained us during some dark times - remember.

He's beloved,

I took a year off once, maybe he's just taking a breather. But at his level, we need him more than he needs us.

ditto . . . except it is often his way, or the highway. FJ can be very forceful. That is difficult for some people to deal with over time, whether he is correct or wrong. FJ tends to foster the notion he is never wrong! That stifles discussion ... the issue is 'tolerance' ?

FJ wants a basic set of facts of the Cooper case set in stone and he has gone some distance to do that. When other people come along with claims of their own, that is where the friction starts ... and frankly it wears down everyone. Cooper forums by their nature can be disappointing and full of friction,  due to a conflict of personalities and claims and goals people are expressing.

I think establishing a neutral ground is very important in keeping any discussion group going. ?  Dropzone has managed to do that through it Moderators/moderation. Dropzone has supported a Cooper discussion thread for many years, largely successfully! I respect DZ for that!

Amen! Just my personal opinion ....

I don't think it's what you meant, but to be clear, I would not want him to be banned. It just seemed like maybe he was. While he can at times be a bit defensive and humorless, I don't think there is a more detailed, thorough, and objective researcher.

It has always been my hope that we could get more forensically trained people working on the Cooper case, developing new evidence which implies more actual lab work, ....... and the sooner the better. Time is the enemy in this matter! It is an issue of Common Cause !

What was it EU use to say in his Daily DB

- No one but Cooper gets to decide what the facts are -

something along those lines, I kind of love hearing that - thinking that.

Well, if he got banned then that narrows down who reported him. I’m assuming it takes more than just one person, given how hard it was to get rid of Blevins.

People don’t like Fly calling out their theories with facts, they’d rather go to Facebook where everyone agrees with you, disagrees because of personal vendettas, or to join the anti EU faction.

I’ll continue to rely on Fly for his observations. We all have our quirks.

The downside of loving psychoanalysis and esoteric symbology is that questions like these are so much fun but complete time sucks.

I sat down to do this but a post to the DZ just did not seem like the right medium to dump a few years and pages of thought. I'll just trickle these out as we go.

Anyway, I did not come empty handed and reworked my energy into a Folk Ballad of sorts.

What type of Criminal is  D.B. Cooper you ask?

He’s not the hardened type

He’s not quite that gentleman thief

He’s not any bit Himme’s Dirty Rotten Scoundrel

He’s not Ckret’s stickup man –

He’s neither a loser, an addict, a down and out no-good-bum

The take me to Cuba types – that’s all there was then

The take me to Cuba type – could that be him

What I know of this man - he held a grudge

He’s short on forgiveness  - not good at letting go

He’s ruminating on something  - on what –  I want to know

The take me to Cuba types  - were they younger men

The take me to Cuba type - they were political then

What I know of this man

He’s no longer a man  - of youthful delusion

He’s no longer a man - of political display

He’s aware there are limits  -on what - could be had that day

The take me to Cuba types – were they considerate men

The take me to Cuba type  - they were swarthy like him

What I know of this man

He’s neither nasty nor mean

He’s respectful of women and never obscene

He’s a man of some principals  - I think we can glean

The take me to Cuba type – were they thoughtful men

He’s worried for the crew - should they tire that day

He’s sympathetic to the stews – ashamed of easy pay

He’s offered some to Tina

He’s offered some to Flo

He’s offered some to Alice  - well her - we don’t really know

The take me to Cuba type – were they humored like him

He’s laughed at Tina’s quip - of rum and cigars

He’s not thinking of mojitos at some Cuban bar

He’s giddy as a child - when the ransoms displayed

He’s told Alice – come back -  its ok

The take me to Cuba type –  Doesn’t sound like him

What I know of this man

He’s not short on ambition

He’s middle aged  -  taking up a younger man’s mission

What I know of this man

He’s  in a fix

He’s got something hanging over him  - only this job - could nix

What I know of this man

He’s good with fantasy

What I know of this man

He’s copied from Cini

What I know of this man

He’s still a mystery

The take me to Cuba type –  that’s not him at all

What type of Criminal - well it’s obvious to me

He’s the kind of criminal  -  REDACTED said he wanted to be

That's pretty awesome, I dig it.

Pedantic quibble: It was Flo who left her purse in the back. Tina brainfarted in her 302 and said it was Alice who came back to get her purse, but it was 100% Flo.

and the proof for this is ... ?

There is nothing in Hancock's interview that mentions a purse.

Correct, which is why I said it was 100% Flo’s purse. It’s in Flo’s 302 that she forgot her purse.

For some reason Tina’s 302 said it was Alice, which is wrong.
