Jo, You WILL deny it, you ALWAYS do, but just a few days ago you were making posts that you told the FBI in the late 1990s how the money got there.

Jo says: as NO ONE knows how that money got there.

Jo says:
This woman told the FBI about the places he stopped in 1979, but she had NO idea she was the first person to ever explain how the money got on Tena's bar. She had NO idea what she was doing - just telling what her husband told her and what her husband did on that trip.

Houston, we have a problem B|

:)
I valued Sluggo's information, but I needed to do it on my own.
He was the ONLY one I trusted to tell WHAT I was doing and kept in touch with him by EMAIL when I had access to a computer on the road. CARR told me I should NOT go to WA - WHY?

:oHis excuse was I would get myself into trouble - what the hell did he think I was going to do? Go to the FBI office?

I stayed LOW key the whole trip and only called the FBI on the 14th day and before I flew out on the 15th day. I called the PORTLAND FBI office and not the SEATTLE office. They were very nice to me on the phone.

NEVER tell a Woman SHE CAN't do something - especially this woman!

I'm going to give Skyjack71 the benefit of the doubt and assume that everything she says regarding the bag, the Columbia River, and the Red Lion are true.
(edited to cut to the chase)

Let's face it, though. You need more evidence. You can prove a lot of things, but unfortunately most of them don't have to do with anything directly related to events that happened between Portland/Seattle/Portland on 11/21/1971.

I know what I saw and I know what Duane told me and I know what I found and I know the FBI lied to me (WHY?).

At least MY ACCOUNTING is first person and not he said or she said. I did not and am encapable of putting together something for 17 yrs and being consistent. My goal has been to find the truth - and I spent 17 yrs of my life with this man...one who was my husband and who made a confession I did not understand. " I'm Dannn Coooper?" I wish to hell I had never learned who Dannn Cooooper was - the last 18 yrs life would have been much easier and much more productive.

I actually proved the FBI lied to me and to this day I do NOT understand how the agent could make those kinds of mistakes if they had genuinely investigated Weber. The thread itself found information on WEBER the FBI didn't find. There are too many holes in the FBI's investigation of Weber.!

It is time for the FBI to prove Weber WAS not Cooper and not the other way around. IF they had PROOF Weber was NOT Cooper they would have presented it by now. The only official information they gave me was a letter in 1998 saying he was dismissed on finger prints.

Finger Prints the agent told me were taken from a prison FILE.
Then in 2000 this same agent told me Weber was NEVER a resident of THAT prison. He also told me My husband was NEVER in the Army. That is what OUR FBI? To borrow the express used in reference to me - "Houston, we have a problem".

The GOVERMENT never admits when they have made mistakes.
It is time to make things right.

A lot of human waste has gone down the river in the last 17 yrs with the different organizations within the departments of our governing organization in the USA. The system is so polluted there is NO recovery in site - and perhaps they need to take a few steps back and look at the image America is portraying to the world.

Major SKYJACKING still unsolved after 40 yrs? :P

The 1st Lady doesn't want an admired and successful business woman to visit the White House because she has a negative opinion about this person.:P

A government whose politicians and other governing organization can't avoid temptation nor manage their own private affairs.

Everyday when you pick up the paper or listen to the news - for the past few yrs it has been one corruption after another, crime is rampant and children killing children - What Happened to America?

When 11 yr olds and 6 yr olds can destory public property with NO consequences - what will they be doing when the are 21 and 26? You can lay odds they won't be productive citizens. The life lessons about right and wrongs start when a child is born and by example....

I had the letter he wrote to his mother and what the VA provided me - He was definitely in the ARMY - I have even given his serial number in the past. Only AFTER I brought up the Army thing and my proof in 2000 did they (the FBI) ADMIT Weber was indeed in the Army - in fact it was then that I was able to obtain the ending date - just a few wks.

There are also personal accountings of Duane's history in the army in the Family history - one is a humerous story and since the individuals are NOT liars their records stand. One of the guys was a prior in-law of Duane's. That is another story!
Not giving away all of my stuff and if you had such a great memory you would know I have told the story before and wrote about it.

Do you ever watch Criminal Minds and CSI Those writers must loft here and be part of the jumping world - words and things this thread talks about jump right off the screen. I forget them as soon as the program is over.

I have noticed this for about 3 yrs now. Probably the same writers who did a Cooper segment - Scott and Scott. The story lines each season is written by a panel of writers....but those two just stick out....I am probably the only one who ever notices.

Like the Weber Story - it get old.
But, there is a lot happening no one knows about - so I guess I just need to shut up.

Decided: I won't be at Ariel this year. Too many things to take care of this weekend, and even if it were NEXT weekend, that is also out.

I wish everyone going the best. :)
Yeah...I'm going to be doing the final edit on the first book we've had come out since March, and it's a good one. I won't tell you the title, 'cause that's kinda like marketing if I do, but here's the basic plot:

A young couple from Portland, Oregon is preparing to move to Texas. She's a nurse, and six weeks' pregnant. He's a former Army officer who served in Iraq. But the crash has come, and both lost their jobs and their home was foreclosed.

On the way down, they take a side road and decide to park the U-Haul on a dirt road just off the highway. They are sleeping in the cab when a rookie State Patrolman pulls up on them. It's raining hard, and when the husband reaches into the glove box to get the papers, a 9mm pistol he stuck in there for protection after they parked falls out.

The cop panics, and forces them out of the truck. When the wife tells the cop that her husband not only has a permit for the gun, but is also a decorated war vet...the cop tells her to shut up and pushes her against the truck. She falls into the mud, and suddenly she's having pains where a fetus is supposed to be. She puts her arms around her stomach and groans.

The husband completely loses it and he and cop start rolling around in the rain and mud, each trying to get the upper hand. The husband finally subdues the young cop and handcuffs him inside his own cruiser. Then he takes his wife in the UHaul to the nearest hospital.

It's bad. The impact and the fall not only cause her to miscarry, but emergency surgery must be done. It's a reletively minor procedure, but when she comes out of it a couple of hours later, the doctor tells them she will be fine, but she can no longer have children.

Meanwhile...the cop finally frees himself from the cuffs. The husband disabled the cruiser and its radio, so the cop starts walking back to town. When he reaches the station, they put out an APB on the UHaul and the couple for kidnapping, assualt, etc.

Knowing the cops are going to be looking for them, the husband signs out his wife AMA and they flee to Northern California and end up at the ranch of a guy he served in Iraq with...his Top Sergeant.

What they don't know is that Sgt Cummings, after his wife left him for his veterinarian...has turned to bank robbery to make ends meet. In fact, that's how he bought the little ranch. When the couple arrives, Cummings tells them they are already on television news and they have to ditch the UHaul.

So that night, Cummings and the former Captain Taylor sneak the truck out to highway 101 near Eureka to ditch the thing. As they pull away in Cummings' van, another cop sees them and runs the plates on the UHaul. It's wanted. He gives chase on the van. Cummings tells his former CO to hide in the back. He pulls over for the cop. When the cop walks up to the van, Cummings takes out .45 and shoots the cop in the head, killing him instantly, and then speeds off back to the ranch without being seen.

Now it's murder, and all three of them are involved. Cummings reveals to them (during a huge argument) that he's been robbing banks, and he plans to rob a few more to get the money to leave the country. He tells the Taylors' that if they're smart, they will go along, otherwise everyone is screwed. They have no choice, and it turns out that Cummings is heavily armed. He and his former partner had robbed an Army Reserve armory for several LAWS rockets, satchel charges, and other assorted items.

Within a week, the trio has already shot it out with two more police cars, killing the occupants, robbed a bank for nearly $700,000, did a home invasion on a rich couple in order to obtain new vehicles, and during the actual robbery, killed two MORE police officers who tried to stop them when they emerged from the bank.

Now they try to flee to Seattle, where Cummings has a friend who can get them legit passports and a way out of the country. They are now considered terrorists and placed on the FBI's Top Ten list, and being hunted by both citizens and police alike. The media picks up on it once they are identified because they are both decorated vets...and one was the CO, the other being his Top. It's big news.

You want to know the rest? Have to wait...(*smiles*).

mrshutter45:

Great job on the simulator and some neat shots of the older planes.

I expect on the night of the DB Caper, the glow in the clouds over PDX was just enough for DB to use as an indication of when to jump. Using his watch for a rough tool in when to jump and then by the confirmation by eye using the "glow in the clouds" he was able to jump before the Columbia river and just before North Vancouver. He could have left his rental car parked in North Vancouver and within possibly 5 to 10 miles of his dropzone. An easy walk to the car that night and well ahead of the FBI search in a day or two.

The glow in the sky above PDX and Vancouver that I have seen on several night flights was useable for navigation as described above. Some times the weather even leaves holes in the clouds so that actual lights on the ground are visable.

The Piper Cub in your simulator looks very good as does the 727 -7 prototype.Even the colors match what was actually on the prototype. I might have to buy the simulator which would be an up-grade from my present Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Anyway, many thanks for the great posting.

"Just a few weeks" is; long enough to find a fraud, determine if it is worth it or not - to prosecute and put in prison, or just discharge with a less than Honorable or even Dishonorable. No time for any training of any actual skills.

R99 replies:

As Matt and I have pointed out earlier, if fraud is involved then there is a legal question about Duane's status in the Army. Even if he was issued an Army serial number and an Army uniform, both were obtained as a result of his fraud. And in booting Duane out, the Army apparently decided that he was never legally in the Army.

If Duane just wanted to wear an Army uniform, there were probably plenty of Army/Navy stores around that would be happy to sell him the uniform, showing whatever rank he desired, and probably ever medal issued by the military (including the MOH) if that would help him pick up girls at the local bars.

Maybe it's time for Jo to make a trip to Seattle and beforehand...try to get an appointment with Special Agent Thomas Eng. You need to go to the source.

Hey. Maybe we can go there together and Eng will set us both straight. :)
We could invite Marla along, but I don't think Eng is too happy with her. (*laughs*)

I've actually considered this idea, well...except for the Marla part. I don't even care if Agent Eng whips out The Magic Reason Why KC Can't Possibly Be DB Cooper thing on me. I could put it all behind me, and that would be fine. I always knew it was a long shot anyway. My only satisfaction would be in helping erase a known suspect from the list. I wouldn't like that result, but I could accept it. I'm not afraid of finding out, that's for sure.

It's hard to explain sometimes.

EDIT: Call it a guess, but I think MeyerLouie is mad at me or something. The all-caps in his post above was a giveaway. Come on, Meyer. Copying over the entire post just gives it more traffic. There's no title, nothing on our website about it, and you can't buy it. It's just a plot outline.

I think you are simply pissed that I can't make it to Ariel this year. I have family and business commitments. Cooper is fun, but it isn't my life you know. If I were REALLY trying to push AB or the KC book, I would show up with copies in the truck and blah-blah-blah to people. It's not my style.

My mother in law is coming for Thanksgiving. I have to clean this place up before she arrives. Shampoo carpets, the garage, the full treatment. That is Saturday. On Sunday I watch Seahawks. Work is Monday.

THAT'S why I can't make it. Now you know. Come on, man. Everyone's heard that KC story anyway. (*laughs*) I will see you at the next Ariel. Maybe the Symposium in Tacoma in 2013. I'm already working with Gayla and my family to change the schedule for November of next year. As you know, I'm supposed to do three weeks on the road (and sky via Alaska Airlines) going down to Phoenix for a family reunion, then on to Vista, CA - in November.

But after the symposium idea at the WSHM came up, I started thinking I would like to go. I'm sure I will be able to manage it.

Admit it though...you liked the story, huh? :)

Sadism.

I guess it is human nature to tweak the nose of fate:

http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/usaf-removes-bulk-of-f-22-operating-restrictions-379056/

From the article published earlier….. today:

Around 21,000 sorties have been completed without incident since the USAF lifted a safety-related grounding order imposed for three months late last year…”

Then as if to remind them of something:

http://www.cnn.com/2012/11/15/us/fighter-jet-crash-florida/

At least they had a full twelve hours of ‘feel good’ time before reality handed out a bitch slap.

Forecast has six months of groundings, then scattered smugness, before the next ‘incident. No lessons to be learned here either; please go back to your normally scheduled navel gazing.

BLEVINS, THE ONLY REASON I USE ALL CAPS IS SO YOU CAN EASILY SEE THAT YOU ARE GETTING A RESPONSE TO YOUR POST. CONSIDER IT MY 'TRADEMARK' IF YOU WILL. CAPS DO NOT EQUAL ANGER.
YES, THE STORY IS PRETTY GOOD STORY, BUT THIS FORUM IS NOT THE APPROPRIATE PLACE TO BE POSTING IT. PEDDLE YOUR WARES ELSEWHERE.

BLEVINS, YOU'RE SO OFF-THE-WALL WITH SO MANY THINGS YOU SAY HERE -- SOMETIMES INAPPROPRIATE, ASSININE, RIDICULOUS -- SOMETIMES SPONTANEOUS RESPONSES THAT MAKE NO SENSE BECAUSE YOU HAVEN'T TAKEN THE TIME TO THINK THINGS THROUGH BEFORE YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH.
I'M PISSED THAT YOU DON'T MAKE IT TO ANY SYMPOSIUMS? YOU'RE KIDDING, RIGHT? ACTUALLY, YOU USE THIS FORUM TO SHIELD YOURSELF, I DON'T EXPECT YOU TO SHOW YOUR FACE -- EVER, BECAUSE THEN YOU'D REALLY HAVE TO DEFEND YOUR OUTLANDISH POSITIONS. AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN. MeyerLouie

When Duane wrote the letter to his mother he was in the Chemical Warfare - I have given the intitials that were on the letter before but feel to poorly tonight to dig it up. He thanked his mother for washing his clothes and asked her to send him his watch. Somewhere in this thread I posted segments of the letter.

Note that Duane's Uncle was in Chemical Warfare during WW1 and then called back to duty when the Balloon Bombs came in.
The uncle served several wks doing this for UNCLE SAM. Without the letters and the other information infront of me I can't remember much right now. BUT, it is all in prior post if you are interested. If you are just trying to flame you know what you can do with that. Flush it down the toilet!

On some pain medication and my time on the thread is limited. Try to post before I take it.

Discharged from the Army as an Undesirable! Now tell me I do NOT have the records!

Then follows with this steaming pile:

Yep, sometimes they write themselves, Ariel chute indeed. The FBI should check your mystery chute as soon as possible.

You are WRONG.

The only person needed to ID the Aerial, Amboy, Paradise Point, Clydesdale, Iditarod, chute was Earl Cossey and he said without hesitation, THIS AINT IT. What did YOU do, use your ‘facial recognition’ software on this too?

Then you go all conspiracy because some spokesperson or brain dead reporter called it silk. So what? So did YOU on the ‘Decoded’ program. Reporters also said Cooper demanded twenties, but only the biggest dorks believed that one. Get off your high horse and get over yourself.

You should listen to the free and accurate advice given your way, and THINK, a little bit before you hack out some response filled with factual errors, which contradict your ‘self proclaimed’ status, as a person who makes posts that are sensible. You screwed the pooch, again, and got caught, again, but instead of eating it, you minimize and deflect, again.

I'm a college football fan, I used to go to WSU football games. Luck was second runnerup in the Heisman Trophy race last year (college football's "best football player" -- I think he should have won it), he was the starting quarterback last year for Stanford. This year is his first year as a pro (hence, rookie) and he's doing incredible -- a mature professional way beyond his years.

Obviously I don't keep up with Football! Never actually understood the game rules and I thought it was a brutal sport, but I was married to a football player who attended a Fl university with a full scholarship. Who said opposites do not attract - they just are not co-habitable for the long term.

Do you ever watch Criminal Minds and CSI Those writers must loft here and be part of the jumping world - words and things this thread talks about jump right off the screen. I forget them as soon as the program is over.

I don't watch those programs. But I do have a question. If you forget them (the words) as soon as the program is over, how do you remember them now as coming from this thread?

:)Jo Responds:
Well, it is like this -I am 70 plus yrs old I do not try to hold onto current memories - if I didn't write down my meds I wouldn't remember when I took the last one. If it was not for the TV schedule - I would not know what programs would be on each day.

Find it hard to make new memories - perhaps my memory bank is full![:/]

Ask me what I did 20 yrs ago, don't ask me what I did yesterday. A TV program is NOT part of my life as I live it. It is entertainment....an attempt to escape reality and Cooper world.

I have the discharge papers and family reports of Duane's actions on the Army Base (mostly bad) - Camp Siebert, Al. Discharged as An Undesirable. He did some Goofy things and taking a superior officer's vehicle for a spin was one of them.

You got me on that quick and well researched response, about bio-degradable materials, being buried for 63 years, in the ground. No chance of any variation or science here.

Ahhh shit, now I feel stupid, hey what’s that?!

Side answer: so maybe everyone else was using it that way too. You were still guilty of saying silk and not manning up to being a tool.

Duane wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. The Army realized it right away. He has dozens of arrests and a pile of convictions that corroborate the Army's assessment: undesirable. Unable to perform. Lacking ability. Lacking character.

So this same bumbling guy who cant even pull off a joyride or a purse snatch without getting caught conceives and executes the crime of the century and outwits the nations' top law enforcement minds???

Jo, how likely is that? Do you really think Duane the incompetent bumbler morphed into Superman?

Need to correct an error I made a couple of days ago.

I stated below: I made an error in the post:

Jo States:
The bag was never in his jacket pocket and a paper bag was thrown in the water at the Red Lion on the last wk of Nov or Oct of 1979

This should read:
The bag was never in his jacket pocket and a paper bag was thrown in the water at the Red Lion on the LAST WK OF SEPT OR 1ST WK OF OCT OF 1979

I was so mad I made a mistake and did NOT catch it until tonight.

The trip to Seattle was the last wk. of Sept or the first wk of Oct. in 1979.

The trip to Seattle was the last wk. of Sept or the first wk of Oct. in 1979.

The trip to Seattle was the last wk. of Sept or the first wk of Oct. in 1979.

Repeating this to be sure NO one screws it up. One of the posters on this thread a long time ago pulled up the weather for me during that time and we know it was very warm when we Left Ft. Collins, but colder in Seattle. I have pictures of Salt Lake and Duane and myself and I had on shorts and short sleeve shirt. The morning we left The Dalles I wore pants. I knew the outfits I carried for the Company functions where fall and winter.
Duane warned me to take a raincoat, but I did not need to use it as a raincoat.

I did a fair amount of work on that chute story in the Newsvine article. I could be wrong on it...but at least someone questioned it beyond taking the word of Earl Cossey. Somebody HAD to, since the Lt. Walling story the FBI tried using to explain it didn't make sense. After I realized it didn't jive, it was like that quote from the film The Outlaw Josey Wales:

Quote

'There's another old saying, Senator. Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining...'

"If I'd observed all the rules, I'd never have got anywhere..."
Marilyn Monroe

I was here at DZ when the chute was found - there
was a lengthy discussion of the matter that lasted
months. You arrived much later. I cant see that you
have raised anything new - new to you maybe - but
not new to us.

You arent the first person to look at a map! Or ask
about silk vs nylon. I even posted photos of silk vs
nylon threads, etc. Or question Cossey (for a whole
slate of reasons most of which you havent even
cited and apparently arent aware of...). Or question
and research the Waling story... Ckret was here at
the time and was questioned.

You can go back and read the thread but I cant see
you've raised anything new to this forum that wasnt
already covered or asked before. You are the first to
publish an "article" about it on Newsvine.

Ive told you a million times to go back and read the
thread ........ rather than claiming to have
re-discovered the wheel (over and over again).

The fact that Tom Kaye credits you with being the
first to bring out or question the distinction betwene
silk vs nylon, is just ridiculous and only points to Mr
Kaye being out of touch, literally. We previously
discussed silk vs nylon here until we were blue in the
face, even cracked jokes about it at the FBI's
expense, to which 377 laughed.... How could Kaye
have missed it! ??? That's just the way Tom is
sometimes. Carol may not have even been on
Tom's team yet .... Ckret didn't miss it! Snowmman
didn't miss it ... 377 didnt miss it, etc etc etc...
there really is no need to even continue with this
rehash of old-news.

READ THE THREAD!

You might as well claim to have founded this thread
on Dropzone.com ... which followed the previous
threads on .......... never mind.

Ask Snowmman! You have a contact for him ...

These are question I have tried to figure out myself and he was also reported by the family to be a problem child. I think he was just running with the wrong crowed and on thing led to another. Duane probably even took the fall for others - it was how he was cut. Yet, he wanted to do better and he would give you the shirt off his back. He loved to play Santa Claus with some of the poor people I worked with. We would make Santa deliveries - We would take the packages to the door and then he would go back to the van and I would do my HO HO in my red jacket and Knock on the door and run run run. Actually that was fun fun fun.

Kids and dogs - he knew just what they needed in love and discipline - never condesending.
Never forget the smile on his face one night when he got to play a real daddy...

He arranged to get possession of 3 bags - it was a friday afternoon. He walked in and asked me where my daughter was. She had her own apartment downstairs - living area , wet bar, bath, bedroom.
We let her decorate it the way she wanted. There was a spare bedroom behind the bar, but she likes the other one which had pipes and looked like a dungeon, but that was the room she wanted made in to a bedroom and we did it.

He layed the nickel bags down on the kitchen bar and some wrappers and a box of matches.
He told me to tell her to come up stairs. He asked her about her plans for the weekend and then told her to cancel them.
He said "you know what that is for
now roll one for me and one for your mother and for me. She was dressed to die for going out.

I refused the one made for me - but the two of them smoked theirs. The look on both of their faces told the story. It was a FATHER DAUGHTER STORY.
Duane was a good father to her and taught her responsiblities and they like to play games - board games and card games.

Of course she was grounded for 2 wks after I was told what she had been doing.

Duane worked hard at his job and as far as I know he did not run around on me. He could be a goof ball and then be serious as a hard attack. As I said be fore I kept my money separate what little I had , but Duane did a good job with her as a DaD.

When I would get mad at the two of them and I was getting readly to let them have it - it always came out Duwanna. I would be saying both of their name together of if they had been misbehaving. I believe he would have taken a bullet for her and so would I. I regret that Duane and I had to travel so much leaving her on her own for about 3 days. When it was possible I would stay in the area an work the local leads and let him go else where.

All those yrs and the only thing he did that made me feel he was afraid was in Virginian Bch, Va.

Every time we went into a restuarant he was looking all around like he was looking for someone - later I knew he was worried about being found out as some of his Johnny Collins friends supposedly lived in the area. But after a while he was comfortable with it. We made some friends - just casual, but we usually did everything together. We bought a travel trailer and used that to work some of the coastal areas and to have some fun.

He was an ordinary insurance salesman making good money and then opening his own office ahd having 8 guys working under him all over the state.
Had his own Office and meeting room the company rented. He was at his best during that time.

The one bad thing that happened in VA- he came home drunk on night and he was crying and telling me he was responsible for some one dying.
I though maybe he had been in an auto accident - but the car was ok. He was crying and saying "Its my fault, he tried to copy me and Its my fault he died." I have NO idea what he was rambling about...he was drunk - very drunk. A few yrs after we moved to FL he die and it was in that last yr. he started to say other things that did not make sense. I would just look at him and ask him what he had been drinkin? Showin me his hand and a scar he had, talking about Weber Bread and something else named after him - I pop off with Weber grill.
He tried to tell me about something on a plane - I just didn't get it. He tried to tell me what he had done on that night, but I wasn't ready for it and he didn't really know how much time he had left....so the dicussion ended. The drunk fell asleep with my petting his head.

When you saw Duane you saw Symba - our poodle. Duane had insecurities about meeting new people in the Pensacola area - we owned a home and I had a job - I expect if someone had recognized him he would have been on the run. He was real concerned about a man who came into the shop who was a Private detective....the man was just a collector and they actually made friends - retired military.

You see I did NOT know the Criminal Duane was. Oh well too much information and I am bored.
