Engine Problems?

Recommended Posts

Was almost certainly a "staged" photo.

For one, there generally isn't another plane around willing to fly in formation with you when you have an unexpected engine failure.

Then, on most small airplanes, you actually have to do quite a bit of maneuvering to stop the prop. They have a tendancy to "windmill".

Further, if the engine stopped there's usually only one of three things wrong; fuel, air or spark. In any case, if it was willing to run, stopping the prop and then climbing back out to start it back up is kind of stupid since usually all you have to do is put the plane into a dive and the prop will start turning again!

Yes, the was almost definately a "stunt". For what reason? Eh? Why do people do any of them . . . to get their picture's in the paper!

BTW, don't be fooled into thinking the plane is in a "dive" any greater than a normal glide just because the section line in the background is at an angle to the line of flight.
