Can anyone tell me what happen to the drop zone at Rome airport. Looking for friends that owned it back in the early 90s. He was from one of the block countries and she was from I want to say Michigan but not sure.
Thanks
John

The Griffins? They closed down. Don't remember why though. It was called Air Ventures.

Thanks, I was just wondering where they were and wanted to say hi. Zoran and I were partners, Georgia Air. It was an engine shop, didn't last very long though. Cathy flew as a student at my day job, can't remember the name of it though.

I could never figure out if there were more than one DZs at Rome. I've never been there but I've had friends who jumped or, like John, flew jumpers there.

***I see John Bruffy every now and then. I could pass on a message if it would help.

Bruffy had a damn nice King Air.

True, but my favorite plane of his was the Beech D-18. It was a work of art anyway, then he put a step on the door and a rail down the middle of the top. We'd put six people hanging from the other side off that rail and launch a dozen or more jumpers in one big wad. These were our James Bond jumps.
