Jamaica?

Recommended Posts

About 2 months before I went to Jamaica a few years ago I called the DZ to make sure they were up and running. Turns out they stopped operations in the 3 months before I got down there. I guess I should have called back and confirmed they were stilll open right before I left. Still, its extremely disappointing to drag you gear through customs and not be able to jump.

If you can't manage to get them on the phone I wouldn't count on it being open. If you can get them on the phone I wouldn't count on them being open.

Just my personal experience.
I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows*

My girlfriend's father live in Jamaica, last week he went to the dropzone (Boscobel) to had a look and they were doing tandem...! He's not a expert, but he saw such activities.
So, it's a bit confusing, I got no answer by phone or email, but they run activities...

So this is my Jamaica feedback:

No more skydiving in Jamaica, too much taxes over there apparently.

BUT, If you got time (at least a week before jumping), you can request permission from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and jump on the small airfield of Kingston, with a Cessna. (500USD per hour).
It's even harder with a helicopter, you will need a VERY special authorization.

Otherwise, scubadiving is nice also ;-)
