fyrfytr 0 #1 August 13, 2009 I will be visiting vegas next weekend with my wife whom I have finally talked into jumping! I have found very mixed reviews on all three of the local drop zones; (Skydive Las Vegas, Vegas Extreme Skydiving, and SinCity Skydiving). I'm leaning towards SinCity due to mostly good reviews, price, and location of pickup on strip. We are both planning tandems, I made 10 solo jumps 12 years ago, but just want to go again to enjoy it with my wife. Any input would be greatly appreciated. propacker 0 #2 August 13, 2009 isn't there a better place to jump by where you live? it would be cheaper and easier. I would rather support my local dropzone than spend way too much money doing a tandem in Vegas. (just my personal opinion)
fyrfytr 0 #3 August 13, 2009 Unfortunately not many options here in rural South Dakota. I am a private pilot so I do get to enjoy the aerial scenery here in the Black Hills area. They did have a skydive outfit here recently during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally but we try to stay out of the hornets nest that week! Vegas prices don't seem much higher then tandems were here when they were still operating locally 12 years ago.
propacker 0 #4 August 13, 2009 sorry to hear about the lack of local opportunites. just check out the various prices for Vegas and hopefully someone on there can steer you in the right direction. anyway - have fun!
swoosh13 0 #5 August 17, 2009 Not sure if its too late but if it is it may help anyone else with a similar question. I live in Las Vegas and have done a few tandems at Skydive Las Vegas. Its a bit of a drive from the actual city but they also have shuttle pickups. Everytime I went there I felt extremely welcome and like I was in good hands. I'm not sure how cheap they are in comparison but the times I've gone to Skydive Las Vegas I've never had a problem with anything else.
fyrfytr 0 #6 August 17, 2009 Thanks for the info. I already booked with Sincity Skydiving, so I guess we'll give them a try. I'll post how it went next week!!
stuka 0 #7 August 18, 2009 There is a good drop zone that operates out of the Hot Springs Airport. The tandem masters are highly experienced and safe. http://www.blackhillsairsports.com/Tandem.html
fyrfytr 0 #8 August 19, 2009 Thanks for the reminder, after looking at their website, I realized that those are the same guys I jumped with 12 years ago in Spearfish! Great guys, hopefully I can pursue some more solo jumps in the future with them after I get my airplane done. Same old story: not enough $$$$! I'm still planning the tandems in Vegas this weekend though, It's actually cheaper there, obviously due to volume. Nothing against the local guys, I know they are just charging what they have to. pdj6p 0 #9 August 19, 2009 Honestly your best bet would have been Skydive Mesquite. They would have given you the best bang for the buck. Death is so permanant, and I'm just not ready for that kind of committment.
fyrfytr 0 #10 August 28, 2009 We had a wonderful time last weekend in Vegas! SinCity Skydiving was great to work with, very friendly small company. My wife enjoyed her first jump for her 30th birthday present! And I enjoyed jumping after a 12 year break! Any questions about our experience, feel free to email me directly at: zbruch@yahoo.com
