SkyFest 09 June 15th – 22nd Raeford N. Carolina, Celebrating our 9th year of donating skydives!

Recommended Posts

I never would have thought it was even remotely possible for me to be more excited or passionate over SkyFest (SF), especially after 9 years of organizing the darn thing. But 09 has done that! Realizing I may need a location back in August last year from being unsure of the previous location, I was getting excited about a West Coast offer. Of course having plenty of time to decide, I was in no hurry and I already knew the dates. I received a call in September from Pat Thomas of Sun Path suggesting Raeford. Having been to the DZ several times over the years, our families having the history in the sport together, the facilities, and safety record were enough for me. I just needed to close some books elsewhere and I was there! This has turned out to be what I believe will be a truly amazing event.

The incredible talent of Champion Skydivers, the DZ’s facilities, and then add the multiple milestones to be celebrated is pretty darn exciting! The opportunity to be a part of these celebrations with these very special individuals is a large part of what I look forward to, we truly are making history ourselves just by having these folks together! While these folks have probably been to a symposium, board meeting or competition at the same time, I seriously doubt they have been together in this environment! Wednesday evening will be an organized gathering of passing a microphone to share their stories of the ol’e days of skydiving! Bill Booth will be bringing some 16 mm reel to reel footage of the 60’s with others bringing photo’s and slides for our viewing pleasure!

Ok, back to the other “goodies” during the event!

I'll have an ice cold case in my cooler upon arrival! There's not too many things I have to buy beer for these days, but I'll gladly buy for this!!
