Dyouz 0 #1 September 26, 2007 I just moved from NY to MD, Annapolis area. I did a search for DZ's, but the info is kind of scarce. Does anyone jump in the Annapolis/DC area and can you suggest any good DZ close to home.
JohnRich 4 #2 September 26, 2007 Did you search here?: http://www.dropzone.com/dropzone/North_America/United_States/index.html
hornet2006 0 #3 September 26, 2007 Using the search function will give you directions to some real good DZs in the mid-atlantic region but none are really near Annapolis. It sounds like you want one real close and that's never going to happen due to the ADIZ around DC and the Class Bravo airspace around the 3 major airports there. If you look on a sectional, you'll see how busy that airspace is and the airspace above Annapolis only extends to 4200 or 4500 feet before you're in BWI's airspace. That's why the closest DZs are quite a drive from Annapolis, Orange to the south and Delmarva and Cross Keys to the north all have otters.Livin' the Dream

jrsides 0 #5 September 27, 2007 Try Chambersburg Skydiving Center. Same distance as Delmarva. No Bay Bridge traffic. www.skydivingcenter.net

BGill 0 #7 September 29, 2007 Delmarva, hands down, is the closest dz to Annapolis (roughly an hour to an hour and a half, depending on how fast your drive). A lot of Delmarva jumpers are actually from the Annapolis/Severna Park area. Come on out, you'll have a blast.
Dyouz 0 #8 September 29, 2007 I think Delmarva is going to be the place to go. Thanks for the input everybody. If you see me there, I go by the nickname "lefty."
