Notice to all you techies:

We now have T1 wireless Internet connection at CSS.

(I have NO idea what this means, just that everyone is really excited and the borrowed laptop I used today was way way much faster, Internet-wise. Cool, since the old wireless we had was about as fast as the redneck dial-up I have at home )

Thought I'd share the news.

Also - Any ping-pong aficionados out there? Come see me or Zoli next time you're out

Update: I have 2 tickets to the chicago concert for rob. Thank you THANK YOU!!! to everyone who contributed to buying them. I'm still taking donations for the other portions of the evening. I got several recommendations to send him with an escort. If anyone would like to help me arrange that.... as you well know, i'm not real up on those kinda services ;)

I think the overwhelming majority has said to send him with an escort in a limo to dinner and then the concert... Give me some feedback.

Hey anyone know what the heck was up with the spot on sunday. We landed at least 3 miles out and we were second out. Opened up and did not see anything we knew it was that far out.

^Wow... That's bad! It was a busy weekend with very light uppers & that had alot to do with it. I got out with the last tandem today, pulled at about 5500 and landed in the field across from the water tower at Novo.

Congrads to the 4-Way teams, expecially the winners, Fockers, Crazy Ivan, and Ice!!! Also thanks to Emily for running manifest smoothly!

This wednesday has a good number of students dispersed throughout the day. Thursday and friday are very slow as of right now (sunday night), but that is all subject to change.

Congratuations on 1st place Fockers! 28 points is tough to beat! If we can't get the date of the next meet moved back to the original date it was scheduled for, we'll either have to substitute a member for one of our loyal stand-ins, or scrap it. We're not sure yet.

Ok so trying not to kill the thread again (as per Dave)

How are we going to have a big boogie when our CASA's are going to multiple dropzones near by?

Sounds like "the point" will have one of our CASA's and they are apparently pulling a big group from Chester (little birdie told me so)

Who knows who else is going to have our planes?

I don't know what everyone else thinks about this but I remember that last 4th of July boogie was pretty big (my first boogie). We had fireworks and band, big fire, lots of drinking, lots of jumping, full planes, and just a lot of fun.

This year though....... seems kind of sad. There is no band, no food, no fireworks, no firewood as of last weekend, no thread on DZ.com about it, and as far as I know just the regular fun jumpers maybe some extras.

WTF sorry if I step on toes here but who is organizing for this boogie. Because it seems to me that nobody is. (not the jumping part) I know that regardless we are all going to have fun. But I still can't help wondering what happened, and where the break down was. Granted I don't know a lot about skydiving just what I've seen on TV . But come on what happened?

I totally agree, I don't know what’s been up with CSS lately, but it's getting kinda lame. Fortunately, it looks like we might still have a CASA for the boogie (at least according to the newsletter http://www.carolinaskysports.com/ExperiencedSkydivers/DZnewsletters/Newsletters06/tabid/147/Default.aspx)

Since it is on the website, it could turn out to be like our "air conditioned packing."

Jeez, listen to all this complaining. Is Dave contagious or something?

Last weekend I heard a lot of people talking about a cook out. Does anyone have a big grill? Or several small ones? Does anyone want to clean the sand out of their panties and actually do something? Since the lawnmower ate the slip 'n slide, that's out, I guess. If someone can bring a grill, I'm sure other people will bring food and drinks. With all the new gear, there will be plenty of beer to go around. And (from what I hear) there may be some pie for dessert.

I think this weekend will be awesome for working on canopy flight. It's the unofficial "Try a New Canopy or get a Whole Lot Better on Your Current Wing Boogie." (That's catchier than "4th of July Boogie," don't you think?)

So who's going to be flying something new or working on something specific on their current canopy?

WHO won the ping-pong tourney Sunday?? I'm still amazed that I beat Edina in round 1. Not surprised that I was absolutely slayed by Eric and Peter in rounds 2. Zoli was kicking ass, but Todd seemed to be giving him some serious compo. Sorry I had to leave before it was over.

SO who won - who's going to lord it over me when I come into work Wed or Thu? Since none of the Hungarians post on here, I'm counting on you, Eric.

We have some serious talent around here - it's fun to watch.

Who do you think organized last year's 4th of July Boogie that you thought was so much fun? Who paid for and booked the band, bought and cooked the food, launched the fireworks, brought the wood, and posted a thread or two or three? Who put together a really awesome boogie video?

Skydivers. Us. People got together and figured out what they could do to make it a fun weekend for everyone.

If you want a party, organize it. If not, don't complain because no one else is doing it for you. (I really don't mean that to have a rude tone, just a food for thought in response to your rant of the month. You know I love ya Darin.
That's the way it has been here for a while. Sometimes, that sucks, because you have to be proactive about events you want, and it's always easier to attend an event than it is to plan it. Other times, it's really cool, because we get to do stuff that we really want, like FreeflyFridays, the (low attendance but still fun) freefly scrambles last year, FondueFriday, Jive Jam, getting bands WE choose at boogies, the ping pong table, the awesome breakfast for JFTC last year, fireworks (on holidays or just because), that really good dinner Stuart cooked etc. All that stuff happened because skydivers took the initiative to make it happen.

Anyway, I think that's all I needed to say.
