BMFin 0 #1 July 8, 2003 Does every otter fit the same amount of jumpers, or does it depend on the DZ ? Our DZ takes 24 people...

fundgh 0 #3 July 8, 2003 I thought it was 23! That might depend on the number of seatbelts, and if somebody is allowed to ride in the co-pilot seat....FUN FOR ALL!
quade 3 #4 July 9, 2003 QuoteThat might depend on the number of seatbelts . . . It absolutely depends on the number of seatbelts if you want to stay legal.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
tictoc 0 #5 July 9, 2003 It all depends on the weight and ballance. When it is put in service the FAA decides. Some DZ's (like mine) do not let people sit in the right seat others will. You can't go over what the paper work says but if the DZ choses to take less than that is their choice.-------------------------------------------------------- Some one must go to the edge for others to be able to find it. But if you go be sure you can make it back.
darkwing 4 #6 July 9, 2003 Does it also depend on the engines? There is a wide range of engine power on various Twin Otters. -- Jeff My Skydiving History
rtroup 1 #7 July 9, 2003 ours carry 22 but two of them can only take 20 pasengers on really hot days like last weekend.(insert philosophical quote here)
BMFin 0 #8 July 9, 2003 I could also add, we always have 2 pilots (becouse of insurance I think...) If theres less then 24 people we have to leave those unoccupied places free close to the pilots. So if theres 18 people in the load we leave six places free closest to the pilots. We can use that extra space after the seatbelt light comes off. The minimum amount of people for a load to 13.000ft is 16.
kyros1 0 #9 July 9, 2003 If I remember well it was 22 but usually I jump with other 4 people on a Cessna 206 (total 5)
masher 1 #10 July 9, 2003 How many people do you put in 182s? Every DZ I've been to (3) puts in 5, but I've seen references to (american) DZs that only put in 4 jumpers...-- Arching is overrated - Marlies
BMFin 0 #11 July 9, 2003 Here 206 takes 5-6 jumpers depending on their weight.. I guess 182 takes 5..

We only put 4 and a pilot. I would never fly in one with 5. joboulay 0 #14 July 10, 2003 In my DZ's 182, we put 4 or 5 depending on the weight of the jumpers! I jump, I live, I love. Ourson #1 Ordre des Ours Polaires Volants
skymedic 0 #15 July 11, 2003 QuoteIt absolutely depends on the number of seatbelts if you want to stay legal. But I have jumped a DZ that has 30 seatbelts in an otter...they only take up 22 at a time...but have more than enough just to make sure EVERYONE has a belt on....
