darrenspooner 0 #1 August 13, 2003 Got a lovely slippery fast surfing sexy Hornet 150, but the openings are significantly compromising my ability to sire further children. Any tips please? Tried rolling the nose, sticking the slider out the front, stuffing the nose into the centre cell, leaving it sticking out the front (ouch, ya bugger), blah blah blah. I love the ride but cringe on openings. Its got to be better that that surely
SkyDekker 1,120 #2 August 13, 2003 mmm, my rigger used to eb a test jumper for PISA and when I told him I got a hornet, his immediate comment was to put a pocket slider on the canopy. Maybe something you can look into.
diverdriver 5 #3 August 13, 2003 How are your stows? Change any length? Do the bands bite your stows the same as your previous canopy? Did you change the pilot chute?Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
darrenspooner 0 #4 August 13, 2003 Stows I think are okay. All the same, nice and tight. Same bag and everything as last canopy. I have been have 2.5 inch bites, but the nice man from Aerodyne just found me a Hornet packing manual and it suggests they should be short, so I'll try that next. Pilot shute unchanged. darrenspooner 0 #5 August 13, 2003 Pocket on the slider? A packer told me about that a few weeks ago. No doubt will be a possibility. Thanks

SkymonkeyONE 3 #8 August 13, 2003 Pocket slider or Howard Mod. Personally, I would just have the H-mod put on.
kmcguffee 0 #9 August 13, 2003 Mine was doing the same. I tamed it by stuffing the nose into the tail and psycho packing it. I haven't had any problems since. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
Scoby 0 #10 August 14, 2003 From what I understand, the slider was upsized at some point in the Hornet's production. I have a 170 and it opens softly consistently. Perhaps a slider upsize would have the same effect as a pocket slider? Perhaps Aerodyne (formerly PISA) could recommend a size to tame it?
bclark 0 #11 August 14, 2003 I have two friends who just bought Hornet 170's and they have HUGE sliders on them. They say they open nice. I have heard from some folks with older Hornets that they are spankers. I don't know when they started puting the big sliders on them. From my understanding they are South African Sabre's, which might explain the opening characteristics. Pocket sliders work well.
