I trained the Special Forces in Ecuador, great guys all, great country as long as you are jumping near the coast, and under no circumstances, drink the water.

The Capital city "Quito" is 9500 feet above sea level...takes some getting used to if you are planning on staying awhile.

a 30 second freefall will take you to 17000 feet ASL and it will exhaust you completely.

I only jumped in other countries then my own. Took the 6 AFF jumps so far in the Netherlands. And in 3 weeks I'm going to France to hopefully finish AFF. I myself am Belgian.

Pre: Oostwolde (Netherlands) has VERY BIG field everywhere arround. Even if you can't reach the dropzone just about every other place is a perfect terrain to land on. Watch the barb wire though!

USA - lots of places - very cool.

UK - crappy.

France - compete for the crappiest

Italy - Nice.

Switzerland - Picky. Even for someone with over 1000 dives. Paperwork from hell, and E-X-P-E-N-S-I-V-E

Australia - World Meet 1994 at Kooralbyn - and then the post equinox boogie at Tegoolewah. (Ramblers)

Turks and Caicos Islands (British West Indies) Beautiful - between huricanes.

Namibia - Desolate - and beautiful.

Mozambique - Pretty. Dives were out to sea for a movie shoot.

Swaziland - Cold - and military.

and I'm from

South Africa. Nice.

Japan (Tokyo Skydiving Club, Skydiving Japan)

Pros: i'm thinking about it, the people are friendly
if you get there on the one day a year you
can see the horizon, you get an awsome view
of Mt. Fugi! You usually get a decent view of
Northern Tokyo

Cons: Expensive (65 a jump)
No seatbelts or door on jump plane (caravan)
No indoor packing, mats are usually muddy
Weather is crappy MOST of the time.
Hard to get on a load on the weekends

USA: pros; DC-3s and skygods like Jerry Bird at 1980 Easter Boogie in Z-Hills
cons: missed Lodestar because they only got it flying
on last day of boogie

Puerto Rico: pros; beautiful scenery, including golden beaches at Humacao
con; felt guilty skydiving in such a desperately poor country

France: pros: great food, long skydiving tradtion, french rolls and Porters
cons: French police and border guards. It is embarrassing when I have to explain their job for them in their language and translate for Australian tourists

Portuga: pros; my 500th jump was a demo into the back yard of a restaurant. Portugeuse wine, pretty little blondes.
cons: Portugeuse wine the morning afterl

Germany: pros; great beer, food and jump planes
cons; germans can be as pushy as me

Holland: pros: a laid-back, more genteel version of Germany with even better food and some mighty fine women. Mafia Brothers Boogie in Texel, 1986
cons; a long drive to get there (9 hours including ferry ride)

Austria: pros; great farmer's breakfast, Pink Skyvan and scenery around Saint Johan im Tyrol
cons: a long drive to get there

South Africa:
Pros:
- Weather is nearly always jumpable.
Cons:
- Most inland DZs are at 4000ft above MSL so landings are a bit quicker and jumping is generally from only 9500' AGL.
- Most DZs only operate on weekends.

UK:
Pros:
- Relatively large number of DZs to choose from.
- Good eye on safety.
Cons:
- Weather is very fickle.
- Some DZs are pretty unfriendly.

Norway:
Pros:
- Very friendly people.
Cons:
- Weather can be worse than the UK.
- Rigging services for some equipment is not available.
- Smallish selection of DZs

Spain:
Pros:
- Weather is pretty good.
- People were quite friendly and helpful.
- Excellent scenery.
- Pretty serious about their skydiving.
Cons:
- Sometimes you need a bit of patience to bridge the language barrier.

USA:
Pros:
- Lots of DZs
- Excellent planes.
- Some really scenic DZs.
- Some DZ are really friendly.
Cons:
- Some DZs are operated by really unfriendly people.
- What DZs advertise on the USPA site and what they actually deliver are not always the same.
