419gotaminute 0 #1 February 20, 2004 Hey guys I'm hoping for a little direction- I've got about 300 jumps and I would like to do the collegiate nationals this year. However I know absolutely nothing about it, like what the requirements are where it is held what moves you need to do... blah, blah, blah Anything would be wonderful Blue Skies-
RozeAY 0 #2 February 20, 2004 Collegiate Nationals are at Lake Wales, Florida again this year, right after Christmas until New Years. You can find a complete description of all the requirements and events in the Competition Manual, Section 7. http://www.uspa.org/publications/manuals.pdf/SCM.6-13_May2003.pdf USPA is considering some changes at their meeting this weekend though, so some of the information may change and should be updated by this summer. But they'll probably post the changes on their website as soon as they are confirmed.
bliston 0 #3 February 20, 2004 Collegiate Nationals is one of the best events you will ever participate in. I went 3 years in a row and have nothing but good things to say about it. The USPA competition manual has all the ins and outs about requirements and events. Don't worry about going down alone, there are always people to do pick up teams with if you're interested in team events. More than anything it's just a a killer party week. Additionally, the costs are cheaper than any other competition you'll every do, there is ample free coaching, and great support from the meet staff. First time competitors are welcomed and it's definately something you won't regret being a part of.Mass Defiance 4-wayFS website sticks!
RozeAY 0 #4 February 21, 2004 QuoteAdditionally, the costs are cheaper than any other competition you'll every do. That's not true. The registration fee for Collegiates is $100-$125 (it was 125 in Eloy 2002 and 100 in Lake Wales 2003) per competitor, plus jumps. Any other meet (NSL, etc) is only $25 per person, plus jumps. And each jump is basically the same cost regardless of the meet. The only thing that makes U.S. Nationals more expensive than Collegiate Nationals is that you're paying for 10 rounds instead of 4 (for 4-way that is). But it is definitely fun and a great experience, especially for first-time competitors.
bliston 0 #5 February 22, 2004 I stand corrected. I guess Collegiates USED TO BE the cheapest meet around. Hope you make it, though. Save a dollar a day, and you'll be well on your way.Mass Defiance 4-wayFS website sticks!
