Only 1.5 years until POPS! :S

2.5 more years to go for me... believe me, NOBODY is gonna believe me when I tell them I just joined POPS... :S:D

I'm glad you guy are having fun with this Poll! I feel like I should have included 70 + age. Sorry if I left you guy out, I know that SOS is a big foundation in our sport however I can not change the poll.

Hay HH should you put an edit button on a poll?

Peace and blue ones

I'm OLD!:P

I started on round parachutes.
Before the Fax machine.
Before CD's
Before Tandems - when the only way to learn was Static line.
When we stayed away from people with AAD's
Flew in Cessna's without doors - even in Winter.
The only turbines we jumped were C-130's
Spotted ourselves - as there was no GPS.
When 7 cells were "radical" and reserves had 5 cells - or were round.
When we needed to do water jumps for the licence - not just a briefing.

And yet I feel completely at home in today's skydiving world. I love my wingsuit, my GPS, my Neptune. I'm glad I started on that old gear though. I'd have killed myself on the stuff available today - just as others are doing.

I look forward to what the future has to offer.

It's the year of the Pig.

"So... 85% of DZ.commers are younger than me.. "

Just voted, probably brought that figure down a little, so if more old farts like us keep the numbers up, it won't look so bad....right?;):$

I'm 24, I'm of the electronics generation, the tandem generation and I'm a pepsi generation rebel (I don't like pepsi). But I buy beer for my firsts, whiskey for my rigger and have respect for my skydiving elders who paved the way for me to have technology to do tandems and swoop with.:)

I started before Wendy

Yeppir. I'd say that made you older than dirt, but, well, what would that say about me? :P

Wendy W.
There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

I started on round parachutes.
35' T-10 military gear at Z-Hills for me.

Before the Fax machine.
ditto

Before CD's
ditto, but I had 350 record albums (still do)

Before Tandems - when the only way to learn was Static line.
ditto

When we stayed away from people with AAD's
Never saw one...

Flew in Cessna's without doors - even in Winter.
At least our Cessna's had jump doors.

The only turbines we jumped were C-130's
Never jumped a turbine.

Spotted ourselves - as there was no GPS.
ditto, no such thing as GPS yet (at least portable for civil use).

When 7 cells were "radical" and reserves had 5 cells - or were round.
No such thing as square reserve when I started.

When we needed to do water jumps for the licence - not just a briefing.
ditto

Also, no hand-deply, no 3-Ring, no RSL (some were experimenting), no free-bags, and last but not least, no low turn fatalities.

No square main jumps allowed until 200 jumps.

Things have certainly changed a bit :)

BTW, where do you vote in the poll, I don't see anything but the thread when I enter?
