mr2mk1g 10 #3 March 14, 2005 The "aftermarket printing" is a photoshop job - at least in the photo's they show. Sounds like they're going for the sick momento collector market - same lot who will pay more for an "only used once, small dent from where it was dropped" AK than for a brand new AK. I doubt the provenance... but who knows.
jose 0 #4 March 14, 2005 What a sick fuck. Obviously has no idea of the skydiving family. I know for sure no one I know would buy it, but some stupid whuffo will probably buy it and tie the lines to his belt loops and go jump off a bridge thinking hes a base jumper. If if wasnt so damn ugly, and it was under 20 bucks, I would buy it and staple it to the ceiling of my garage just to keep it out of a morons hands. colossus 0 #5 March 14, 2005 I saw that and I almost puked... my dear god... "I have cleaned up the blood as much as possible..." yeppers... I am sure one of us would buy that. This is what gives skydiving a bad name... btw... you beat me to posting this... dang you! :) Jason
Lostinspace 0 #6 March 14, 2005 Why would anyone print a logo on a reserve? I thought all reserves were 1 color (as opposed to 2 or more colors). (im new)
PhreeZone 14 #7 March 14, 2005 You can sometimes get reserves in multi colors. Demo teams do it a lot so that the audience never realizes they are on their reserve and they still match the team colors. Logos can not be on reserves... it voids the TSO. The logo appears to be a photoshop. The writing does not crinkle with the fabric and in one photo its in italic and the other its not.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
demoss99 0 #8 March 14, 2005 Could very well be someone (dz.com'r) with a really sick sense of humor seeing if it made the forum. Nothing shocks me anymore - especially with ebay - home of the Virgin Mary grilled cheese sandwich etc... lol "I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant." jose 0 #9 March 14, 2005 Well, I mailed him about the canopy and heres how it went. Me Hi. Do you have the serial # for the canopy? I am sorry to hear about your friend. What was his name? Did this happen recently? Brad D-27807" Him Yes, the serial number is #001 I guess that means it was the first one of this kind ever made...? Maybe that was the problem. About my friend; I deal with it with humor now. No hard feelings. Good luck... So I am calling total bullshit. 001 my ass. No answers to most questions. If anyone here buys this, you get what you asked for.
JohnRich 4 #10 March 14, 2005 QuoteYou can sometimes get reserves in multi colors. Demo teams do it a lot so that the audience never realizes they are on their reserve and they still match the team colors. I've been scared of doing that every since hearing a story from the "old days"... It seems that there was once someone sitting in the door of the aircraft, climbing to altitude, who had both a main and reserve canopy that were the same color. He snagged something, had a premature pack opening, and saw fabric going out the door into the slipstream. Acting quick, he assumed it was his main canopy deploying, so he pulled his cutaway handle, figuring this would keep him from getting yanked unceremoniously out the door. There was only one problem. A big problem. The canopy going out the door was his reserve. The jumper was thus pulled out the door anyway, and ended up hanging from the tail of the plane under his entangled and trashed reserve parachute. And since he had already pulled his cutaway handle, he had no good chute remaining... The moral of this story is: order your main and reserve chutes in different colors, so that you can recognize which is which in an instant. I prefer a solid white reserve. That way, if I see any color at all, I know it's my main. Beware.
councilman24 36 #11 March 14, 2005 I've complained to ebay about fraudulent item not as represented. (the text obviously not printed) This bozo isn't too far from me. May have to pay him a visit. It is part of the previous rig in the questions. Quotes the same serial number and has the same photo.I'm old for my age. dropoutdave 0 #12 March 15, 2005 I've complained to ebay also. This guy needs to be stopped now! This part is fucking disgusting!!! QuoteA number of pictures were taken from bystanders when it happened. A short while later, these pictures ended up in my hands. They will go with the canopy if the winning bidder is interested ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces...... councilman24 36 #13 March 15, 2005 Latest question and answer. Doesn't even address the photoshop text he claims is on the canopy. You asked: "You quote the same serial number as item 7120724748. And one of the pictures is identical, except for the electronically added text which is obviously not printed on the canopy. The two pictures in this auction have different shape text. What are you trying to pull?" yes, my mistake about the serial number. my friend and I both bought the same rig quite some time ago. No, unfortunately, this picture was taken a few months ago. I have it all boxed up and ready to go. I am not going to take it out to take a new picture.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

dropoutdave 0 #18 March 15, 2005 Got a response to the questions I asked, Make of it what you will. Dear dropoutdave, You asked: "Different canopies right? It appears you both seemed to have the same serial numbers as both are #001. Also reserves aren't allowed to have any logos on them, what gives?" Reply: Right, well, different canopy. he and I both had the same ones. We purchased them at the same time quite a while ago when we both got into the sport. I mistakenly sold the first one as 001 when it was really 002. I already contacted the winner of my canopy and they said they already realized it when it came in. Secondly, we didn't think about the logo thing when he asked me to put it on there for him. ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces...... Scrumpot 1 #21 March 15, 2005 It's CLEARLY exactly the same picture between the 2 of them, EXCEPT for the "photoshopped" supposed logo-print ADDED. This guys needs also to have a few (nad VALID) NEGATIVE e-bay ratings submissions added to his profile. I am not personally even an e-bay member. Otherwise, I'd be happy to add one! sharimcm 0 #24 March 15, 2005 I read that too... A little scary... If he got confused on which handle to pull, he shouldn't have been jumping in the first place. And, at first it sounded like it should have been an accident, then he made it sound like it was a suicide. I flat out asked him what his friends name was, where his DZ was, etc. Funny how that was yesterday, and I never got a reply. I did however contact the guy who bought the seller's rig, but still waiting for a reply on that one. Maybe he can help pinpoint a DZ. dropoutdave 0 #25 March 15, 2005 Good thinking. This whole thing has really pissed me off, I can't believe someone has actually put that on ebay claiming that he and his friend were "jokers" and it's the way he would have wanted it to be.
