justaflygirl 0 #1 March 27, 2005 I love to organize things (not loads, I am by far not that good of a skydiver) but I would love to be behind or help someone plan a future boogie(s). I have a great theme idea for a halloween boogie, call it the "Boogidy Boogidy Boogie" and with the awesome response to my Christian post, I would like to possibly have a "Fellowship Boogie" of some sort and as well to my Florida Jumpers post up post I would like to maybe see a "Sunshine Boogie" Am I crazy or uniformed, I mean really how do boogies get started and is this feasibly something I could do and if so where do I begin? bodypilot1 0 #3 March 28, 2005 Basically anyone can start a Boogie. If you aproach your DZO and tell them your idea, they may like it that YOU are going to make all the effort to produce something that will make them money. All it takes sometimes is your time to get the word out , and sometimes the money to have other aircraft come to your DZ to fly the jumper, should your DZ not have the planes to provide adaquate turn around times for the jumper that attend, because thats one of the most frustrating thing when jumper that attend a Boogie to JUMP, have to wait hours just to get on a load. Give it a go, it never hurts to try! Be safe. Edwww.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

How do you turn 2 million bucks into nothing.? Open a DZ. Boogies are a high risk especially if additional aircraft come in. Thats tough too because you rarely make money on outside A/C, unless you have a huge turnout. Make the boogie unique, do something that noone else does, cause after a couple of years it will be copied. Trust me i know. They are alot of fun and a ton of work. I would suggest start small and stay that way until manifest is back up for at least 45 min. then you might be ready for additional A/C. Not trying to talk you out of it, just go slow and work on a low budget to begin. If the weather craps out you want to have other ways to bring people out anyway. I am sure Jim gave some good advice as well. Good luck Good name on the others. Have fun with it and be different
MarkM 0 #7 March 28, 2005 Why not find out when the next boogie is going to happen at ZHills and ask whoever's organizing it if you can help out? See how it's done a few times then you can try one of your own.
BigM 2 #8 March 28, 2005 Might want to drop a line to Chris Spence. He just concluded his 2nd Dublin Boogie and it attracted 300 jumpers. There was 2 CASAs, an Otter, Caravan, Porter, helicopter, and 2 hot air balloons. I'd call that a successful attempt at creating a boogie. I am sure he could give you some dos and don'ts. dsbbreck 0 #9 March 29, 2005 I alway said that if I won the lottery I would have a boogie and let everyone jump for free. I'd call it the "Freefall free for all".David "Socrates wasn't killed because he had the answer.......he was killed because he asked the question." dsbbreck 0 #11 March 29, 2005 Did you hear the one.... A guy prayed to God every morning for 50 years....Please God Let me win the Lottery.....After 50 years God had enough and yelled back "Help me out and buy a damn ticket."David "Socrates wasn't killed because he had the answer.......he was killed because he asked the question."
