All I've heard so far is that the winds are pretty bad this time of the year? What's the vibe like? the people? the safety record? and where is the owner from? Chizazz 0 #3 November 26, 2005 I was at Skydive Hawaii at the beginning of September. It's literally right next door to Pacific Skydiving Center. Skydive Hawaii was a cool place. Didn't check P.S.C. out though. They said it's decent windwise in the morning and gets really windy in the afternoon. It was probably 12-15 mph when i was there. Reginald 0 #4 November 26, 2005 I spent a day at Skydive Hawaii about a year ago. The owner and staff were kind to me. It was very obvious that it was a total tandem factory as it appeared Pacific Skydiving Center was. Both of them were bussing tandems in from every hotel on the island. That said they got me on planes and treated me well. The owner even offered to go do some RW with me. nate_1979 9 #5 November 27, 2005 Been to both PSC and Skydive Hawaii.. They are both tandem factories, but PSC has a fast king air, Skydive hawaii has a slow caravan. I did like skydive Hawaii's vibe a bit better, felt more welcomed there as a fun jumper, and they do experienced only sunset loads twice a week .... PSC tends to shut down very early in the day, they schedule all the tandems early so they can close up shop. BTW: The view is friggin outstanding! They have also cut down a bunch of trees near the landing area that used to cause turbulance which is discussed in some posts here, but the winds do still get crazy there.. FGF #??? I miss the sky... Being a newer jumper, I was pretty concerned about the winds, but going early combined with great briefing, made it something I felt comfortable with. dgm458 0 #7 November 30, 2005 My brother and I both jumped at PSC back in July of '04 and we were treated great as fun jumpers. They give a good debrief about the layout of the land, the outs, the winds, etc. The winds are better early in the morning. I think the owners name was Guy (he's French). He was very nice and very helpful. As fun jumpers, we didn't have any problem getting on a load and we went on Tuesday and Friday of the week we were there. The plane ride was worth the jump ticket by itself. The pilot does one huge circle around and if you sit by the door the view is awesome. Since we were there, they've cleared trees from the roadside that make things a little better for landing since there is less turbulence. This time of the year though the trade winds are pushing you OUT TO SEA. Be prepared for that. If you have a very conservative canopy, this time of year may not be for you.
