load for wingload-calculation

Recommended Posts

how much load do i have to include in the wingload-calculation?

i have 62 kg (= 137 lbs) (naked ;)).

let's assume that i will jump a container with a 218 Raven IIg (7-cell-canopy) as the main-canopy and a suitable reserve in it. i just finished my AFF and have no idea what my weight with the gear on could be...

not really - i do not own that specific rig - not yet... :P

edited to add:
PS: infact i do not own any rig...[:/]

Ok that changes everything :)
And 33 lbs would be a good guess for gear. My V3 Micron 310, Stiletto 150, Cypress and PD143r weigh about 25lbs...last time I hopped on scale with and with out. And that is just the rig, no weights or any other gear.

thank you for your answer.

i read that the Raven IIg weights 6,5 lbs - is this with the lines and risers? please see attached image.

are you sure that i would have to add 33 lbs (that is quite a lot, isn't it?) to my body-weight?

33 lbs isn't that much... you stated you weigh 137 nude, exit weight is you, your rig, gear AND clothes... :D

My sport rig with a 120 main and 126 reserve tops the scales at 18 pounds. You're talking about jumping a main and reserve that are 218 sq feet. Rough guess is that rig will weigh 27 pounds... plus the weight of clothes/ helmet/etc (another 5 to 10).

33 pounds is not an unreasonable number for equipment.

Why are you jumping a raven for a main?
