hmmm, looks like a crazy dive, but it always seems that tv loves to portray non realistic facts to get it to sounds more dangerous. they make it sounds like he leaves the cage at 1100 feet then fumbles with his gear for a second or two before deploying. But the shot of him under canopy sure as hell doesnt look like he deployed below 1100 feet.

Whats crazy is the video guy that films the guys opening and opens at what? 400ft? I think the altitudes are a little sensationalized which is disappointing because that is a pretty amazing stunt no matter what altitude he got out. Why lie about it?

Someone must know... it had to have happened at Arizona. C'mon... out with it!

I havn't checked the video but I'd lay money on it being Robert Gallop he does a few crazy stunts in the air

Note the hideaway back parachute. That or he's awefully hunchbacked. After they say he's at 1100' it runs long enough to impact.

It's a stunt, it's TV and they never promised not to lie to you.

I remember watching this one when it aired. I expect that everything was breakaway.

Hmm. If they were "so low they were out of the safety zone" why were the white parachuitists still holding the cage why he tracked away. I mean if they were "too low to safely pull" IO'd have hauled ass and left him...hes the nutter that locked himself in a cage.

These things have no relation to the sport of skydiving other than some equipment and skills in common.

I remember watching this on tv at the time, and even as a whuffo child I thought it was unusual that he still had so much freefall time after passing 1100 feet.

One of the main reasons I stopped watching television: tv producers believe the audience are idiots and treat them poorly.

I agree, that's why I don't watch any of the reality show, shock t.v. stuff.

I'm not knocking the poster who put it up, or anyone who got a kick out of it but...

... he falls into to the David Blaine/WhoTF Cares category for me. If it served some sort of purpose, like say on "Myth Busters" where they were trying to demonstrate some scientific point/data of one sort or another, it might make it interesting to see him work himself out. But to have someone trying to make a name for himself by manipulating the situation w/faux danger is a waste of my time and NOT entertaining. And the comment by him "...Wow, to realize I only had 5 seconds to impact!" is nauseating.

Our sport has plenty of danger built into it just by going out the door.
