jeffmullins 0 #1 June 23, 2006 Anyone know a David Leif Brandal from Canada. I was involved in a transaction with him starting in December. I sent him a canopy he was interested in, and in return he sent me a rig as collateral so he could jump the canopy and see how he liked it. He kept stalling on payment, and constantly fed me stories of how he was getting the money together. Eventually he offered to return the canopy when I told him I was selling his rig, but as usual no canopy was sent. I still have his rig and am about to put it in the classifieds. If anyone knows him personally please have him contact me asap. I believe there is a real person by this name because it is embroidered on a brand new wings container. jeffmullins 0 #5 June 26, 2006 The container is a smaller wings, I believe the largest it looks like it can hold would be a 120. It'll go for a good price, but I still need to make up some of the loss on the canopy.

Hmmm...can I post the names of people who won't return demo's? I'm not allowed to post stolen gear in the mags, because I know who has them and the police say I can't file a report because I willingly sent it to them. There aren't many (faith in humanity restored), but with the few there are...it sure would be nice to ask for help from fellow skydivers. Mods, whatcha think? Cloudi 0 #9 June 26, 2006 Ya think? No point in checking with the boss if the Mod's won't let me do it in the first place, though. I would think the risk of the public emabarrassment of being looked at as a thief would prevent a lot of the "babysitting" I do right now. Oddly, I would prefer to spend my time answering people's questions and actually sending them canopies, than chasing down grown adults to "remind" them a canopy is due back. Weird, huh? Cloudi 0 #10 June 26, 2006 ...and David, whoever you are. Send Jeff his canopy back. Stealing is wrong. If he wants his canopy back and you haven't sent it, that is stealing, my friend, no matter what you gave for collateral. Stealing from your own "brother." You should be ashamed of yourself (or have one hell of an explanation). Jeff, what is the canopy/size/colors? It may help if people know what to be looking for in case David has "relocated" or used the name on the rig that may actually have been stolen also. Hi Cloudi After seeing David Leeif Brandal's name posted here with this unresolved issue would you as a gear dealer do business with this person before the canopy issue is resolved? Bad boy..... What you going to do.R.I.P.
Cloudi 0 #14 June 26, 2006 Quotewould you as a gear dealer do business with this person before the canopy issue is resolved? Only if I can send a competitor's canopy. If I don't get it back...oh well! Odds are that I will get it back, though. People usually only steal good stuff (sorry, couldn't resist). By the way, I don't work for a gear dealer, silly. I'm up way past my bedtime on a school night...stupid insomnia... Kim Watch as I attempt, with no slight of hand, to apply logic and reason.
jeffmullins 0 #15 June 26, 2006 Thanks for interest in this case. Several Canadian jumpers have Pm'd me with the whereabouts of the canopy and David. Apparently he gave it to the DZO as collateral for unpaid bills at the DZ. Hopefully I will get it back soon.

Hopefully he/she would do this in good faith especially as it is unlikely he/she can legally hold on to 'collateral' that doesn't actually belong to the person giving it. nothing to see here

I'm not allowed to post stolen gear in the mags, because I know who has them and the police say I can't file a report because I willingly sent it to them. I had a former employee, when he was terminated, did not return his company car for two weeks. (He made a copy of the key and took it without asking) He drove it all across the country. Did a bunch of damage to it... The police did nothing - because I gave him the keys - despite the fact I told them, "but the agreement was for a specific period of time and use" - and the insurance company would not pay for the damage because it was intentionally done by someone I authorized... I fought, and the police finally called him. He told the police to &^%$ off, which upset them and they took it personally... I got my car back in minutes and a police report that allowed me to get the insurance money. Oh, and the DA went after him too and I got his paychecks for a while. Never tell the police what you really think, so he learned. Anyway - in that experience I learned that I had to be very clear in the terms of the deal - and the police started to appreciate the fact the return date was not open ended. I know Big Air Sportz had some of their demo fleet come up missing too and last I spoke to Brian about it he was not going to replace the canopies since it just was costing too much money to have them stolen all the time. Canopy dealers, Canopy dealers, what you going to do.......when the bad boys/girls screw you These bottom feeders are adding to your cost of doing business which gets passed on to all your customers. I'm probably preaching to the choir but like beth says and like we've seen with David Leeif Brandal these folks are serial thieves.
