Injury stat question

Recommended Posts

Hi All...

I have looked over the stats on injuries and fatalities. A fatality is pretty clear, but an “injury” not so much so. Is there any way to examine the stats on serious injuries, like a jumper was paralyzed, broke their neck or something like that vs a sprained ankle? Or is it fair to assume that a minor injury is rarely reported?

Without knowing where you're coming from that's hard to say. It would probably be very rare in any country that a sprained ankle would be reported.

In the UK I believe (don't quote me) that broken bones or anything requiring hospitalisation would be reported to the BPA, though some may fall through the cracks. Also student injuries are probably more diligently reported than experienced jumpers. Of course, even if you had all the injury stats you still wouldn't be able to reliably break it down on an injury per jump basis.

(Cool name btw;))
Do you want to have an ideagasm?
