Most likely a tension knot, although while it looks like both brakes are stowed a premature brake release would look very similar. How to prevent a tension knot? Replace your lines when they are becoming worn, stow your lines neatly, and be stable when you deploy...

I guessed before scrolling down to Miami's post, and my guess was "tension knots involving D or C/D lines on the right side." I've not seen a reserve like that in quite a while. Blue skies, Tom

Not positive, but it looks like a Swift...an older 5 cell reserve prior to the Swift Plus line of reserves. The first rig I ever owned had one in it, but I never had the opportunity to use it.

Tha efact that he had a camera???on his helmet makes me think it is strange. The fact that he slid on his ass makes me think a novice.
On one point of the video it looks like one arm is up and the uther is down inducing the spiral.
Hard to tell. Why wait so long under a spinner?

That was a first jump static line student. I'd guess it's a radio on his head, not a camera.

If there's a lesson in there, it's that reserves can have a long snivel, too. They shouldn't, but they sometimes do. Act accordingly. (If I say anything else, I'll piss off my gear mfgr. )

Being a new guy I hesitate to say, but was there a full test of the breaks followed by a sudden full release? With the result that the canopy sped up so much faster than the diver that it was more in front of him than over him. Things go wrong when that happens.

It looks like the main D-bag and pilot chute are hung up on somthing causing the spin.
