There's a fairly well-known dropzone that uses area DZ's names on separate pages in a sentence that says "We are not (insert DZ name here)" --- on a google search for (insert DZ name here) they usually come up 1 or 2 slots below them. How does that spin your moral compass? Personally, I don't really care... as long as they're not flat-out lying about what state they operate in Naming unaffiliated people by name seems wrong though. I dunno. They're not pretending to be other companies, they're not fooling anyone, they're just trying to be easier to find. Many experts here say what they're doing doesn't even work and might hurt their search engine results. So they shot themselves in the foot. Laugh at em! Why does this make people so angry? Pretty much every website tries to use tactics to improve their search engine results. Good ones use tactics that work. Should we complain about them? Hell, didn't USPA suggest designing DZ websites to improve search engine results as a way to fight back against skyride? Who is getting hurt by this one little DZ's website? Somebody trying to promote themselves and at the same time doing a huge favor for places that are used in their keywords. I would consider this as unethical if the whole site content would be stolen from other places and just edited a little bit. This particular example is more unprofessional, than unethical, that's what I think. There are tons of other things that are more unethical, than this little attempt to put a link to the website just one or two rows higher in search result. Anyone that has ever been to this dropzone knows that ever person at this dropzone is there to enjoy the sport and have a good time. Isnt that what we are here for?? UNETHICAL is the last word that should be used in the same sentence as Skydive sw fl. Is the reason for this forum even valid? This dropzone does nothing more than represent the sport of skydiving in the most positive light possible with safety and comrodery being the key aspects. They should distance themselves from these unprofessional web ethics by insisting that the offending code be removed.
