Was that an SOS system?
It looked like the cutaway and reserve pull were pretty much simultaneaous.

Wonder what grade he got on that jump?
A, dropped to an A- because of the frontloop during deployment?

That person was lucky.

Question, the SIM says in the Cat B Quiz :

"If part of the deployed parachute is caught on the jumper or the equipment (horseshoe),what is the correct response?

Cut away and deploy the reserve."

Why is attempting to first clear the entanglement (altitude permitting) not taught?

Huh. We get taught: first throw the pilotchute if not already out (as a lot of horseshoes are out-of-sequence openings). Try twice max to clear entanglement then do full EP's.

Phreezone-

Thats part of the Air Force Acadamy's training program. The first jump is a solo out of the Otter with a delay. Ground video is used in the course.

All 5 of the jumps in the 490 program (of which this video is from) are filmed using ground to air video. All 5 jumps are also solo's from 4500'.

On my 18th jump which was a HnP i had a similar mal, deployed head down, flipped through the risers, leg was tangled in the lines, arm was twisted in the risers.
Got arm and leg out (with line burn on both), then chopped.

I didnt do another HnP for over 100 jumps, then got one of our CrW dogs to take me up and teach me how to exit properly, now i love HnPs
You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky)
