Good skydiving songs

Recommended Posts

I just opened my "Roon" application (which is connected to my TIDAL account) and searched for "Freefall", hoping to have the Armin Van Buuren song on it.
It wasn't, but there are about 50 songs called "Freefall" on TIDAL. Haven't listened to them all yet, of course, but I like the one from "BVSO" and the one from "Skyfall" (while not entirely my cup of tea) is clearly about base jumping or skydiving out of balloons ("the silence during the first few seconds")

I wonder if more experienced jumpers do jump to music.

I've never seen it. I think most people want to enjoy the jump and not drown it out with noise they can get on the ground.

I see it in the tunnel and on the plane. With bluetooth now its pretty easy. I've always wondered if airpods would survive jumping but its an expensive test :D

Oh well, there you go. That's pretty cool. Might be something I look into in a couple years time when I'm licensed and know what I'm doing. I can play the 007 theme when I'm undertaking my top secret missions.

I'm just getting started on my AFF, so these are probably super cheesy, but my playlist has:

- Best Day Of My Life - American Authors (title explains it all)

- Sissy That Walk - RuPaul (because of that chorus that goes "and If I fly or if I fall, at least I can say gave it all, I'm on my way", and also "my pussy is on fire, now kiss the flame" lol)

- Crazy - Gnarls Barkley ("even your emotions have an echo in so much space...")

- Alive - Empire of the Sun ("lovin' every minute 'cause you make me feel so alive...")

- Learn to Fly - Foo Fighters  (too obvious, I know!)

- Lose Yourself - Eminem ("success is my only motherfuckin' option, failure's not")

- The Walker - Fitz and the Tantrums ("oh here we go, feel it in my soul, really need it, need it, so go, gotta feel it, body takes control..")

And I came to this forum looking for more songs, because my playlist is so damn short, and the ride to the DZ is almost 2 hours long!!

Definitely "High Speed Dirt" by MegaDeth. The whole song is about skydiving and 'ol Mustaine had a few jumps I think In Perris where he got a license not sure if it was an A or a B but yeah skydiving was a thing for while with Megadeth. I believe when they went platinum w/ Countdown to Extinction the whole band had to jump. There is a funny video of it out there somewhere and in the back ground is Patrick Swayze getting some jumps in for I think Point Break at the time.

The Rolling Stones have two songs (at least) that mention jumping, but are really about sex.

Parachute Woman: "Parachute woman, land on me tonight" and some much more explicit stuff.

Casino Boogie: "Skydiver inside her, slip rope, stunt flyer" and some much more explicit stuff.

The Stone Roses have a great song, "Breaking Into Heaven". The first 4:35 is kind of industrial noise, but it sounds like some radials powering up in the first 10 seconds or so. I always pictured this in my head, while listening to it, as the plane firing up, the climb to altitude with all of the mental dirt diving, gear checks, door opening, and climbout happening in that first 4 minutes and 30 seconds of the song. Then at 4:35, when the song really kicks in, the exit.                                                       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nu5YLoaxHc

Listen up sweet child of mine
Have I got news for you
Nobody leaves this place alive
They'll die and join the queue, sing it

I'm gonna break right into heaven
I can't wait anymore

How many times will I have to tell you
You don't have to wait to die
You can have it all, any time you want it
Yeah, the kingdom's all inside
