NUMBER ONE- a naked super model chick
#2- the ground
#3-a group of fat kids
#4-one fat kid (if you're that accurate)
#5-a golf course (driving ranges are fun)
#6- the roof of a burning bldg.
#7- the epicenter of an earthquake.
#8- ooh I didnt even think of this til now so it'll stay at #8 a GROUP of naked super model chicks
#9-the middle of crossfire at a shootout.
#10-the ground

Those may not be your preferences but they sure do seem interesting to me.

I see silo's in the background of your picture. That is a REALLLY bad sign that there is evil CORN just waiting to swallow up unsuspecting skydivers who are on a load with someonewho may not be well versed in the art of spotting ;)

But if you land in the corn, you could see over the top of it.

Hey that shit grows OVER 2 times as tall as I am....its prolific in the Midwest in late summer... the whole... knee high by the 4th of July thing you know.. it grows like a weed I tell ya.. and now.. they went and manipulated its genes.and they hose it down with pesticides and they fertilize it so it grows even faster....so its even more dangerous to skydivers....evil stuff I tell ya.

Of the DZs I've jumped, the most well-manicured landing areas that also had have a good combination size, flatness, and openness are your very own home DZ (Skydive Oregon) and the recently-closed Richland Skysports. I recall Pacific Skydivers (Pitt Meadows) being pretty well-kept, too.

There's a lot of others that meet the definition of "big, wide, flat, open" but not quite as soft and golf-course like.

There is Evil corn around. Some years right up to the edge of our landing area. The local farmer rotates crops between corn, beans and alfalfa so some years it's not too bad. Beans are the real evil plant, they look so innocent and it appears that they are just begging to be swooped, but let me guarantee you'll only drag a toe over the tops once.

Grass? Spaceland Houston, Tx...when it's mostly dry. Too wet = mud, too dry = cracks similar to the Grand Canyon.
:D:D

Other? Emerald Coast...the beach at the Floribama bar.
:)

My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

I cant believe no one has said skydive chicago. After nationals was there, im sure people appreciate the enormity and care taken of the landing area.

SKYDIVE CHICAGO has an enormous, well kept landing area, and plenty of outs if the spot is bad.

So this would be.... in our dreams. Grass doesn't turn green without water though!

It was all one humungous swoop pond when i was there for the 2006 POPS record.

Plus I'd rather have evil corn as my alternate landing area than a forest!!! >

There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear.

PSSST our little DZ is surrounded by farm land...you would have to try verry very hard to land in a tree at NW Skydivers;)

There are some trees over along the Skagit River.. but that is 3/4 of a mile away.

They even planted some of the evil stuff at one end of the runway a couple years ago.and a couple small fileds of it on the other side of the RR Tracks.. this year it was wheat... spinich on the other end
