What makes a dropzone a good dropzone?

Shit, when you spend every other night of the week busting up other people's parties, its hard to sit down and enjoy one yourself eh?

:D No, I haven't worn a uniform in 8 years I don't answer calls ect. I am just there for the jumping and maybe a beer with my friends before I leave. I think most DZs don't want a cop hanging out after hours.;)

I have only been to 3 dropzones and still new to skydiving. In your opinion what classifies a 'good' dropzone?

Extra credit... What is the WORST DZ you have been to and why? (Please don't name the DZ or point fingers)

A good DZ has whatever it is that's important to you. In my case, it's high quality load organizing, fast, well maintained planes and short waits for loads. Your mileage may vary.

The worst DZ I have been to is now closed, but it seemed that everyone was toking up between loads and safety was an afterthought. I never went back.

As a new jumper, I may be able to give a newbie's personal experience. ;)

The folks at the DZ make the DZ an okay, bad, good, or GREAT DZ. Period.

There is nothing worse than snobby attitudes and an unwelcoming DZ.

The people that are there. You can have the best aircraft, the best gear, the best location. If the people, staff and jumpers are not great then all else does not mean a rats ass

the people

+1

It's the people. You could have the fastest, biggest, & quickest plane, best weather, great landing area, great amenities, but it all means nothing if you don't have great people to share the sky with. :)

geez, were you trying to describe boulder colorado?

:D
panicked did a 180 and nosed it down into a road and hit a car.Hit a car how many planes with skydivers have a car accident? Only here.

There are a number of things that make a good DZ:

15 000' (Aaaaand the prize goes to Skydive Spain!)
Fantastic unisex sauna and a party atmosphere (Østre Æra DZ)
Really nice landing area, aircraft and the best people (Tønsberg fallskjermklubb)
"What should we do with all the cases of beer, we can't possibly drink them all!?" (HAGL)

I hear that Skydive Voss has great scenery, so I'll check out that this year.

I've never been to a DZ that was great in all ways. ØÆ has few outs, the toilets on Skydive Spain are smelly, and you don't have a seat in the HAGL airplane, you put it on, like a coat.

Home is where the heart is, and maybe the best DZ is where your friends are.

:)

Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet.

I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you?
