lillaunch 0 #1 July 10, 2009 Hey everyone I am trying to finish my MBAA and I chose to write something about skydiving. My teacher is being a pain about the ideas I came up with. So my project needs to be management or aviation related and it must pose a problem that I am trying to fix. Any ideas? No Adam I can not talk about how I almost lost my parachute because I forgot my chest strap. That is a problem but that is my own. (gear checks a must)
GLIDEANGLE 1 #2 July 10, 2009 This should get you started: Influencing customer behavior • How to increase the number of jumpers who do gear checks before boarding? • How to increase the number of jumpers who do pin checks before exit? • How to improve the understanding and execution of exit separation between groups by jumpers? • How to improve jumper compliance with DZ landing pattern? • How to improve the number of tandem jumpers who return for a second jump? Influencing independent contractor behavior • How to improve the performance of packers? --Speed of packing --Customer satisfaction --Malfunction/Nuisance occurrence rate • How to improve the performance of pilots? --Fuel efficiency --Noise abatement Influencing neighbor relationships • Improving off-airport neighbor relationships regarding jumpers landing out • Improving off-airport neighbor relationships regarding aircraft noise • Improving on-airport neighbor relationships regarding aircraft-jumper traffic conflicts. (If at an site with non-DZ aircraft sharing the airport) System efficiency • Speeding registration of new customers --Wavier/reserve date/payment • Manifesting/payment system --Selecting a system of collecting payments from jumpers that is accurate, efficient, and easy for all -----Pre-pay on account? -----Pre-pay with physical tickets? -----Jump first, pay at end of day?The choices we make have consequences, for us & for others! OSOK 0 #5 July 10, 2009 Dude... if you're gonna talk about skydiving, don't use a management topic... go with aviation. Don't ask me what, just go with that. It's at more, um, interesting, than the other :-)
rdufokker 6 #6 July 11, 2009 How about where to locate a DZ. You have to take into account airspace restrictions, proximity to sources of income, i.e. current skydivers, colleges, military bases. what type aircraft can the airport handle, i.e. runway length, fuel onsite. Facilities for jumpers, investment or current buildings. County or airport willingness to have you there. I'm sure there are several more factors that I haven't mentioned. Call a DZO. You could make this an actual proposal. BurkeIrony: "the History and Trivia section hijacked by the D.B. Cooper thread"
lillaunch 0 #7 July 17, 2009 Thanks for the reply. I think my question is going to be either: The call for improved FAA regulations for parachuting: a survey of jumpmasters and instructors or Static line or AFF: a survey of jumpmasters to compare the different styles for safety Whatcha think?
