What Can We Do About Skyride II

Recommended Posts

Pay taxes for what? Advertising? Not sure I understand the question. They advertise on the internet. The internet would be in all states.. and countries.

They SHOULD pay a loser tax though... cause they are losers. Big fat stupid dumb losers. :)

Well,,,, I'm not a Tax specialist, but, I think in the case of their Clarksville, Tn. location >:(, they should pay taxes to Tennessee.
They advertise in Tennessee, they sell their BS to customers who live in Tennessee, and they have actually managed to open a location in Tennessee, that has actually provided the service that the Tennessee Resident customer paid for. So, Yeah, I think that would be COMPLETELY taxable. I think the same would go for Penn. as well as Cedartown. If they have a DZ in other states that accept their tickets, I think they should be taxed in those states as well. It doesn't seem right (Fair) that a Gift Cert. should be advertised and sold in a certain state, the service be provided in that state, but the tax money goes in to the pocket of an enterprise or individual who is based or lives in another state.

redundant posts will get redundant answers:

skyride did not open a location in TN. There is a new (over a year old now i suppose) dropzone in clarksville, but it is not a skyride retail center or anything like that, just a dropzone.

First, let's keep it on topic and not do the sLyride thing and deflect, divert, distract, decieve.

Now that we are back on topic,

Refer to post #659 in this thread. (Jan's timetable for sLyride)

And then, refer to this webpage http://www.astskydiving.com/gift_certificates.html and you will see that you just made an incorrect statement.

I just want to know if the dz in Clarksville is affiliated in any way to skyride? If they take their certs. that is different but are they actually directly affiliated with them? I am asking because in July I am planning on making a trip their for other reasons but was gonna take a day to jump (of course) but I will just not or make a drive to Mullins' DZ.... it is well worth driving and giving the money to him than to a dz that is basically skyride!
Life is all about ass....either you're kicking it, kissing it, working it off, or trying to get a piece of it.

Clarksville is owned by Cary Q. The creator and owner of Skyride.

Utimately, All the profits from Skyride, Clarksville, ASC and their Other DZ`s (Pennridge in Pennsylvania and there was another in Alabama but not sure if it is still around or not), Ends up in the same Pocket. Cary Q`s.

Something was supposed to happen by now between Scum ride and Skydive Arizona?

There was a suit then a counter suit and a judge in Arizona threw out Scum rides counter suit which was identical to the claims Scum ride made against USPA and the "lawyers" for USPA's insurance company capitulated. >:(

I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.

So, I apparently had bad information. Justin PM'd me saying he was not fired from the Farm. He also asked me to get my facts straight and I will. I'll try to clear up any misinformation on this as soon as I hear back from him.

Sorry if I was wrong, but like a newbie I believed what I was told. Kumbaya.

Update: Information now in from Justin. I don't have a dog in this fight and apparently those were old issues that I don't need to involve myself with to fit in. Also, Justin hasn't been fired from any DZ in his 25 years in the activity. So, I had bad info. Sorry bout that.

I do take pride in the fact that I'm one of those people who will say when I'm wrong...instead of arguing for months over some piddly detail.

Hey skippy, were you around pre-SR? These guys didn't get much notice except from us locals when they were only pissing in the metro-atlanta pool. Skyride was just a nationalization of the same slimey crap they were pulling back then.

Pissing off the locals,, Because they actually had A buissiness plan,, built a gleaming facility, bought brand new equipment, ANSWERED THEIR PHONE ,PROVIDED CUSTOMER SERVICE,, while the rest of you hillbillys were standing in a field,, jumping gutter gear,, and craping in an outhouse..

,, AND COULDNT COMPETE,,

Now look around the country there are several groups out there copying them ,, multiple locations nice gear nice facility etc

In the GA market it made everyone step up thEir game or get out of the buissiness Thank god!

" DID YOU KNOW THAT MORE PEOPLE DIED IN THE STATE OF ALABAMA FROM BEING KICKED IN THE HEAD BY A MULE,, THAN DID FROM SKYDIVING LAST YEAR,,

This was an actual qoute by one of these complaining hillbillys to a reporter I had brougt out to one of the defunct GA DZ'S,, dont ya miss the banjo music!!

Alot of people around the country are buying the skyride shit and redeeming at DZ's that I have visited,,
Some places dont redeem them thats their choice,,

Some places are still operating in an outhouse and dont answer their phones?

Oh ya we did close to 200 tandems this past weekend at ASC GA , 15 AFF,, Shut down for the clouds as per the BSR'S/FAR'S ...SENT THEM ALL OUT HAPPY AND SMILING,, several of my tandems either bought another Tandem on the spot or singed up for AFF.

If you dont like it build an outhouse,, buy some gutter gear and open a dz.

If when Skyride started they were that much better than their competitors why did they feel it necessary to buy area codes for 1-800-SKYDIVE far outside of where there DZ was near and not reveal their actual location to potential customers and create all the fake DZ websites?

Because skyride isn't a DZ, it is a company that, among other industries in addition to skydiving, is supposed to serve a purpose to those interested in the skydiving community (or other industry it operates within), but does so on a national scale.

Now, if you are referring to ASC (which is not skyride at all, but a dropzone with independent staff, and the afformentioned new skydiving equipment) you'll have to ask them. Though I believe 1800 skydive is, in fact, for skyride and not ASC. feel free to correct me if i am wrong on that. You may be confusing a Cary owned DZ with a Cary owned skyride business. The latter of course, being what the thread topic is about. Seems to be a common mistake recently.

You know guys...we, as skydivers are not going to do anything "about" Slyride. We talk about it and all but in the big scheme of things that's all it boils down to.

Enough court situations may, just may, make a dent but they will not put an end to anything. As long as there are supporters, there will be a Slyride.
My reality and yours are quite different.

But we can. If enough people boycotted any DZ owned directly or indirectly by Cary Q for fun jumps or even work and encouraged other DZO's working with him to sever their ties...

Sure there will be some apathetic or uncaring people but they at least won't be able to plead ignorance.

Again A buissiness plan,, WHY DID WAL MART LEAVE ARKANSAS?

1 800 skydive is for sale by area code.TO ANYONE

the internet was in its infancy.

across the country you got dzs operating on a shoe string,,, outhouse operation

So you end up with some large DZO"S That happen to be on the USPA BOD,,, using their position to protect their own buissiness interest,, as has been the case for years,,, because they were sleeping in their shoes when the internet took off now they are pissed.Fuck em

To me greed sucks where ever it exsists and believe me thEir ARE NO SAINTS IN THIS AURGUMENT!!! NONE!!! AND IF YOU BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE STICK AROUND AWHILE!!

Think about 1 800 flowers.
If im a local florist and now im getting orders,, I dont have the budget or internet savy needed to get buissiness..

does 1 800 flowers reveal their location?

Their are people out there buying and redeeming skyride certifacates,, all over the country.

This jackass in TN is obviously affiliated with some outhouse operation and cant compete,,

Keep posting this cloud shit and the feds will be on EVERYONES ASS,,, CAUSE THATS WHAT THEY DO,, THEY DONT HAVE FAVORITES,,

Dont aim your shit cannon into the wind YA MIGHT GET SOME SHIT ON YA

So you're going into the offices tomorrow and protesting SL's use of:

"Big Airplane fees"

"Weather fees"

"Extra Altitude fees" (giving them the 13k that's normal everywhere else instead of 8k)

....right?

No they do not but they also do not have sites like Flowers Charlotte, Flowers Jacksonville, Flowers Miami...

I never said the other DZ's were saints. But even if one DZ tries to steal customers and business from another local DZ, it's not quite the same thing.

As long as Sky-Ride, Thrill Planet, etc. uses fake websites and doesn't tell where they are located when booking they hurt the sport they are trying to sell. Sure most just want to experience that thrill just once, but of those I'm sure some will be like "never again" and tell their friends about it causing them to think the whole sport is crooked.
