What Can We Do About Skyride II

sorry made it click

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDPYqSaqCLc

I think we should leave this to conversations about skyride.... not DZ antics or policies. Skydivers are the same at every DZ and every DZ has some skeletons and blemishes. I've seen DZ's charge for extra altitude at some other places as well. Ive even seen DZ's charge for people to watch skydivers land....

Skyride sucks......why dont we stick to that issue instead of allowing skyride to drive this sport to even a newer low. We are better than skyride, lets prove it. I think our hatred for skyride has blinded our love for this sport.

the funny part is, the instructor in the video you put up works at ASC now.:D

There are 1000's of happy customers that can attest all is good in the hood in cedartown. I can't stand the petty personal squabbles that eventually take aim at more public and grander forums.

Skyride customers? :o

My guess is they are just ignorant and probably think the added fees and bad instructions to their location are the norm in this sport.

I'm sure most enjoyed their tandems, but also sure if someone showed them how they were overcharged their happiness with Skyride would diminish.

Agreed. But the second video showed a tandem exiting in a raincloud. Hard to defend that.

Hmmmm...Business issue or TI issue?
This particular vid, it's obvious.
Believe it or not, there are TIs who would not do that. Granted, very few, but there are some.
My reality and yours are quite different.

I have run into people like that at dz's before. When I tell them how they paid too much they are usually pissed.

*sarcasm*
Oh, but we have their money so who cares?

So how about it, BDashe? Will your ethical DZ stand up against such tactics? Or will they just take the money?

I find it interesting that a moderator is so deeply involved in this debate.

If you are referring to "The second video" as the second of the two that I posted earlier, it is clearly labeled at the beginning of the video that it was done at "Adventure Skydiving Tennessee" and the Title above the video clearly states "Sky Diving in Clarksville".
If I remember correctly from the one time I stopped by there for fuel in the Mooney, that really looks like the Clarksville Outlaw Field FBO and the area outside the FBO. So, the question that I have is this, If you are referring the the video I posted, how could you possibly say that it was done at the Farm?
Also, By posting those videos, I was pointing out that it appears to be quite routine that the TI's at AST jumps through clouds. I am not a specialist in the FAR's, but I am pretty sure that the Pilot of the aircraft is ultimately responsible for observing cloud clearances and whether or not to fly in those conditions.
Perhaps this is from the management not caring about FAR Flight visibility and cloud clearance requirements, or could it be greed that would drive a TI to do those kind of jumps or the Pilot to allow jumpers to exit in those conditions.
I would speculate that the Dad that was referenced in the post that I replied to, was seeing other people jumping and did not know that overbooking was the normal ASC (AST) routine and did not know about the FAR requirements.
If "The second video" that you are referring to, is not the one that I posted, My apologies.
There will be no addressing the customers as "Bitches", "Morons" or "Retards"!

That instructor was fired from the Farm and now works for ASC.

Oh, the irony of it all.
:D:D

- simple question - if another DZ opened up across the runway, everything being identical, and you had a chance to "rethink" your decision - which one would you patronize?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
its all about personal choices and your own ethical/moral compass

I missed the post because it was a reply to a different post, your response is telling, if I was actually illiterate, visually lacking or somehow otherwise impaired this would be cruel, but fortunately I'm not, I simply asked the question to understand your moral/ethical standing

so basically what you are saying is you don't see any link between Skyride and ASC, you are OK with jumping at ASC and spending money that is used to support Skyride activities, fundamentally that is the same as saying that you agree with what they are doing

There are whack advertisements for all the California dropzones- difference is- Cali is a HUGE state and you don't cross state lines to get to the DZs.

I have been lurking this thread for quite awhile off and on. Perhaps I have missed something along the way, but to what are you referring here? Seems to me that there have been numerous posts citing or linking to facts about miss-dealings with SR.

I want facts on the table, not wildly bias hearsay, maliciously aimed at non-guilty and frankly, irrelevant parties to the topic.

Where are the facts to support your statement?

Hell, I'm still waiting for Brett to post his supporting argument for the above statement.

you can research that on your own, google is an amazing new technology. I'm not posting against or in the habit of burning other DZs, sorry. Bad ju ju. Especially when it is a normal practice in skydiving and the DZs are great places.

find nearest big city and advertise as such. makes sense and works.

OK, I searched Google for skydive rip off and it seems that SR and its affiliates are what keeps popping up.

I have not figured out yet what The Farm has to do with the videos that were posted from Clarksville?????

Posts 697 and 698 link to a video from the Farm, not Clarksville.
