if you dont mind me asking whats the point of this list? trying to make a black list or something?

Well,,, Maybe it would be helpful to the Eloy case,,, or maybe a wuffo is following the threads and trying to make an educated decision on where to jump so they don't get scammed by sLyride,,, or maybe it's just time for an updated list.

As for a "Black List", well, I won't patronize a DZ who accepts sLyride and I know for a fact there are other jumpers who feel the same way. Planning to go to Morristown next weekend and I know for a fact they don't take sLyride's tickets. Etown is closer, but they take sLyride's tickets.

While I think skyride is an extremely slizzy operation and I wish they would go away, I can see one arguement for accepting the payment from the unfortunate people that are skrewed over by skyride. These people pay alot for their skydive and if the local DZ would not accept this payment then these people are totally out all that money, by accepting the payment these people pay more for the service but at least they get their skydive. If the people that skyride screws over did not get to skydive it leaves a very bad mark on skydiving as a whole. Once again I think Skyride is the lowest form of con-artist out there and I think they deserve to burn in hell but chastising the DZ's that accept payment from the unforutnate ones that got screwed over by skyride is not going to fix anything (IMHO)

And if everyone would have quit taking the certificates 2 yrs ago they would be out of business by now.

The ONLY right answer is to not do business with them.

Absolutely agreed. I'm very disappointed with those that still take them, especially some of the big DZs that are known as "leaders" in the sport. You lead by example.

...or any DZ since you dont skydive?

Billyv- i was gonna try and come up with a snot-nosed response about how you have way too much time on your hands, as that must have taken A WHILE to create, BUT i think that is a useful bit of info! Love the "NO!" lol, bias much? I've been very curious about which DZs accept the tix and overall how many ther are.

Cool deal, interesting stuff.

There ya go again trying to divert the conversation! My currency has NOTHING to do with any thread here that I know of that I am in. Demo'd a football game last Friday night and a race track in late Oct. Problem? How can someone in California make an assumption about someone's currency in Tennessee?

Billy didn't compile the list. Many people contributed to that.

Exactly. Thanatos340 compiled the original list with everyone pitching in. It's been 2 years so it needs to be updated.

A webpage has been set up to show a list of DZs and their status on this so that we don't have to continually post updated lists in this thread, just the link to that page. There will be links on that page where people can send an email to the host to update info on their DZ. More info to follow when I have had a chance to delve into this.

I've got a busy life, taking care of two girls and re-grading the yard with a front end loader so any work I do is usually after the family is asleep for the night, so bear with me.

Maybe you should update your profile to shut people up.

Unless it is up to date, in which case I wonder why you're doing what sound like PRO demos without a PRO rating.

Does PRO matter in a rural area? Why was the Ft. Campbell Team able to do the NASCAR Busch race at Nashville without a PRO rating? A couple of those guys didn't have it, or so they said. And yep, I probably do need to update it, but I don't recall it having a question that asks about currency. #500 is what I am planning to get at Morristown.

This thread is about what DZ's take or don't take sLyride, let's keep it on topic before it get's locked.

I'm trying to drop it, why won't you?

If you're doing a demo over a crowd (like at a football game or race), it doesn't matter if the crowd is in a rural area or not, the same rules apply.

But like I said, not a topic for this thread.

I have no issue at all "not accepting" the certificates, even if the customer is disappointed. I am not 'screwing' the customer by doing that. SkyRide is though.

I explain to customers what a rip-off they are, and I explain some of the ways they might get their money back and how to better protect themselves in the future when looking for a dropzone. I am always courteous and polite.

I have even been called by SkyRida asking if I would take a customer "just this once" in the name of "good customer service" and "making the skydiving community look good". The answer is no. Actually what I said is "Sure, if you pay me the $199 that I normally get" THen their answer is NO, of course.

SkyRide would then have to explain to that customer just how they got ripped off and what they are going to do about it.

We updated our web page with 'warnings' for customers, much like Arizona did years ago.

Even once, if you accept the certificate, you are helping to perpetuate the problem. They need to go away. They will not as long as you keep taking their certificates.

You acceptance of the certificates ensures that Cary and Ben will continue to drive around in cars far nicer than you and I will ever afford.

Eagle Flight Skydiving is out of business. It was sold, moved and became Skydive I-35 nearly two years ago.

I believe that SD Houston and SD Spaceland quit taking the certificates as well.

Gravity Rats Skydiving, --out of business

Capitol Skydiving, Coupland - out of business.

Texas Skydiving Center, Lexington, Accepts Skyride. This is the same as Austin Skydiving Center. They changed the name a few years ago, if I remember correctly.

Agree 100%. Those taking the certificates are helping to perpetuate the problem. (Unfortunately, some of them maybe don't see it as a problem).

If no DZ accepted the certificates, they would pretty much be shut down overnight.

These dzos are business owners. You are asking them to turn away revenue. How many dz's nowadays are struggling? dzos rely on every single penny they can get their fingers on. To you it is a sport, to them it is a sport, a business, and most likely their livelihood. You are asking them to turn away potential revenue by asking them to not accept the certificates. think about it.

btw - not a skyride supporter one way or the other, just pointing out a fact people commonly overlook.
