IMPORTANT - Skydiver Story - CBS News

Recommended Posts

I appologize if this has already been posted somewhere else on DZ.com. If this belongs in a different forum, please move. If possible, make it a one day sticky thingy.

Tonight, Monday, 5/3/10, on the CBS evening news with Katie Courik in a segment called "Assignment America" they will be covering a story about a Tandem Instructor in Texas injured in a skydiving accident.

If you are anywhere near a TV when your CBS news comes on. Please watch it.

Due to the coverage surrounding the New York City bombing attempt, the CBS Evening news bumped the Assignment America segment.

It is currently rescheduled for next Monday, 5/10/10.

Please make an effort to see the story.

Also, if you can, don't forget...

They just showed the teaser, so I think it's a go.

Because of this string of tornado/thunder storms across kansas, I get to watch the weather guys repeat the same damn information over and over again instead >:(

They showed the segment. A very positive story for a very sad event. They had some video of Dave doing other tandem jumps, video of Dave and the passenger on the fateful jump in the plane before exit, still photos (taken by me) of the two-out spiraling malfunction, a computer graphic of how Dave manipulated the steering lines to place himself underneath the passenger to cushion her impact, and interviews with both Dave and the passenger. Also a short blurb to go to their web site for a link to a place to donate to help Dave financially - his insurance has run out. Good job by CBS.

Here's the link to the story online: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/05/10/assignment_america/main6471254.shtml
