Hey Jim,

In that video you posted it looked like the jumper had 3 smoke canisters he ignited, and tossed but I didnt' see any smoke...and around 2:30 he had the ring for what looked like the end of the smoke canisters, but he looped it around his thumb and grabbed his toggle again....why did he do that? Just curious.

That's me throwing the smoke, as you can see from the link below it trails behind the spinning canopy so isn't visible from that camera angle...i HAVE reversed the camera a few times but it really only looks 'badass' on a no wind day when the smoke hangs in the air for a while behind ya....kinda like looking UP a spiral staircase of smoke.

The reason for putting the cable ring on my thumb is so that as I flare to land, I turn my hand down dropping the cable safely right behind me a short distance away... so there is no chance of getting the canopy in contact with the very hot canisters. Them parachute thingies are EXPENCIVE!

I'm not sure how "badassed", but my favorite jump every year, and then we SCUBA it. 60 miles in the middle of nowhere. My swoop pond is cooler than yours!!
