contain a small amount of explosive substance.

It's not an explosive, it's a pyrotechnic cutter. ;)

It's an electronically activated cutter. Don't even use the word "pyro."

I was able to talk about a dozen rigs onto an Alaska flight years ago by using that phrase to reassure the ticket agent that the rigs were safe to carry on. About a dozen jumpers traveling to a boogie had been parading around with their rigs on their backs, drawing too much attention to themselves. The agents were going to make them check their rigs.:S:D

Took it on as a carry on all six times.
All six times they have missed my hook knife
All six times they were more worried about my helmet and wire and cable sticking out of it.
Having No cypress make it easier to travel with since it doesn't activate the chemical detector.

I didn't think a Cypres would do that. Is that the swab-down thing they do all the time? If it did activate it, how am I still getting on the plane with my rig?

My rig never passes the swab test, they just look at it a bit harder before they let it go through.

My hi-top tennies sometimes have a smoke bracket attached the day before flying, I about pegged the machine a few years back in S.F.
