Off topic a bit,,does anyone know how many DZ's are on self owned property ? I know Skydive Chicago is and CSC at Hinkley might soon be, as i've heard the lease there won't be renewed or something like that.....

For DZs that lease space at airports, all they have to do to keep their lease going is to be good neighbors and respect other airport users and operators. Now granted, there can be extenuating circumstances so each case is different. I do not know exactly why ASC's lease renewal was denied. Ben and Cary built their DZ facilities from the ground up so it is a blow to the DZ. Possibly the negative attention surrounding the DZ and its ties to Skyride had something to do with non-renewal, but I am simply guessing...

West Tennessee Skydiving is a private airport.

Lincoln Sport Parachute Club owns their airport now. ( I only know that from listening to skydive radio)

Doug lost a lot of money in the mexican porn industry when the donkeys went on strike for six months and the fill in chickens turned out to be all fluff and no beak. So in order to make ends meet he sold the airport property to a condo development for seniors and was moving operations to the Ottawa airport and has started a new booking company because of all the money in it.

You could more then likely still get a good deal on a slightly used mexican porn donkeys & chickens, but the PAX 750 will still run you 5K a week.

The Polk County Board of Commissioners has agreed to extend the lease agreements with John Mann, Fixed Base Operator at the Polk County Airport and the Atlanta Skydive Center for a period of 120 days.

Commissioners announced that since the leases are either expired or will soon expire this extension time will provide an opportunity to review future plans for the airport and the role to be played by providers of aeronautical services.

This decision comes after a vote not to renew the lease of Atlanta Skydive during the group’s January meeting. Following the January vote, delegates appeared at meetings, letters were written and petitions presented asking board members to change their decision.

No action was previously taken regarding the lease agreement, scheduled to end on April 7.

I don't know much,,,,on the CSC web site in the e-news section,it states they are looking for new options for the 2011 season as the lease is up and they don't want to be there and the land owners don't want them there any more. So who knows,,,,i imagine someone knows the skinny,,,,i don't

There's been a DZ at Hinckley for decades.. The first 10-way star outside of California was done at Hinckley.

So...what's going on there is hosing not one, but two DZs. Are you trying to piss off the county commission to the point of trying to ban ALL skydiving at the ariport?

Successful or not, it will put a kink in skydiving opportunities at the airport for an indeterminate time frame.

My reality and yours are quite different.

If you look at the 6th post down in that thread, you will see that he clearly stated that it's "The company that's running the skydiving operations". Unless you disagree, I see it as he spelled it out that it's the company, not skydiving.

Well that would be a good thing to have on video then and let's hope they do try it, that is one fast way to get the FAA to place a understanding on those who fail to "get it". If you have it on video that will really help the lawsuit too.

It is my understanding, the City of Waverly HAS BEEN INFORMED of what to expect if they should end up getting kicked out of Cedartown and try to move their whole operation to Waverly.
I really don't think the City of Waverly realizes that they (The city) will be the "laughing stock of the Skydiving world"(Quoted from the Cedartown Newspaper thread) and a lot of the rest of the news viewing audience when the news media runs stories about them and how the city supports the business practices of 1 800 Skyride!
As we all know, news reports have been run in Atlanta, Connecticut, Arizona, California, Ohio, Utah, Tennessee and no telling how many other states about the scam being conducted, and if the info that I got was accurate, the City officials in Waverly have seen each and everyone of them, so when a news reporter shows up in Waverly looking for answers, I'm sure someone will be glad to share the truth about the city's knowledge of the business practices of 1 800 Skyride and their other company names and how they know about the reputation of 1 800 skyride and even though they knew the truth, they still chose to appoint Jeff Fincher as Airport Manager. I was told that he has a cousin or some other relative who is one of the city officials in Waverly.
