i was wondering if according to the USPA regulation can i jump (without camera equipment) with a tandem instructor and a student ( as long as the instructor feel ok and now my flight skills).

Is this the skydiver version of linking to Google.com when someone asks a question?

No, because someone with a "C" license and an instructional rating from USPA is supposed to be familiar with the SIM.
...

The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

I recommend that you forget about USPA for a bit and check with the manufacturers recommendations (on their web sites), and also about general opinion about this.

Most people are going to think that you don't have quite enough experience to be doing this. Unfortunate but true. Get about 500 jumps (RW or FS) and then start thinking about it again.

manufacturer- 500 jumps
uspa- 300 with coach rating

Manufacturer's all agree now on 500 Jumps OR 300 jumps and pass the in air skills evaluation of the Coach Course. From the Tandem Parachute Instruction 19 Commandments they released in PIA this year.

At least one manufacturer recommends an AFF rating, and that's an excellent goal if you really want to jump with tandems. AFF teaches you the sort of flying skills you need to deal with the unpredictable fall rates/antics of tandems.

Here we go again...

We have this from the SIM for vidiots:

F. C onsiderations for filming students

1. Refer to the USPA Instructional Rating Manual for
additional guidelines for flying camera for student
training
jumps.

a. A skydiver should have extensive camera
flying experience with experienced jumpers prior
to photographing or videoing student jumps.

(1) At least 300 group freefall skydives
(2) At least 50 jumps flying camera with experienced
jumper

1. I didn't see anything in the SIM about observing (lurking) tandem jumps. Could you point that out please?

2. The Coach rating must be a manufacturer-specific requirement? Which manufacturer would that be?
My reality and yours are quite different.

As applicable to outside video...thanks Matt.
I assume some of that will make it into the SIM or IRM sooner or later.

However, the thread is about lurking, not video. Do you have something for lurking?

No, I personally would call it RW and go with that rules stipulations per the Manufacturer.

The BOD just voted to NOT accept any of the 19 items that where not already in the SIM as BSR's. As well as taking away the requirement for the Student to have a Visible Altimeter.

Whose side are they on? I can only think of one reason to drop this requirement.

Not if you have been paying attention. And I am pretty sure you have been.
