Slow news day? "Terror at 5,000 ft."

Recommended Posts

From OUR point of view it does not make sense.

However step back and think about society these days and it makes a lot of sense. I do not know about the USA but I do know about the UK.

And the UK has.... issues. politics as been infantising the population at large on purpose. As such people are easier to control and manipulate.

There are a lot of adults in the UK who are merely children but in the bodies of adults. Extremely irresponsible people, people who cannot even resolve their finances. Or even fix basic things. I mean FFS people are taking cars to mechanics to replace burnt out BULBS in their cars.

Tech even makes things easier as well. ABS means no need to learn to brake properly. Automatic boxes on cars everywhere mean few people can drive manual.

And as such, everything is regarded as dangerous by the public at large. By both the media and a lot of the general public.

Culture in the UK has become so risk adverse that anything out of the norm is considered dangerous.

Ha internet trolling in the UK can lead to prison sentences even, because people are so soft they can't take a bit of criticism.

Thus to a great many people this is considered absolutely terrfying.

Bits Fall Off Plane

Foreign passengers told of their scared panicked dread aboard a Foreign bound Qantas flight which was obliged to return to Sydney yesterday due to large bits falling off.

Some passengers were worried that the 196 passengers were told few details of the kerfuffle.

They said the plane 'Turned on it's side and flopped like a fish out of water' before turning around.

As a precaution, fire trucks were on standby when the Fokker Cub landed.

Passenger we can't show you his name, but he is a very scared man last night was still recovering from the ordeal.

'Everybody was shoving each other down the chute', the passenger said.

"I missed getting him cutting his chute away as I had continued falling down so there was enough space for him to release his chute and open the reserve, or he would probably fall down onto my deploying canopy. Then we would have both been in trouble."

I'm curious, is it common to not track away or did the article not explain everything?

There is an unexplained thing:

The pics make it look like a little like a premature deployment, or the jumper was deploying as a break-off signal, as the height (4900 ft) and the position of the other jumpers make it look like it happened right at break-off.

I can't tell how close the camera flyer was to the deployment, but it looks closer than I would expect if the pull-in-place was planned.

Slow news day for sure and pretty pictures always help.
It's flare not flair, brakes not breaks, bridle not bridal, "could NOT care less" not "could care less".

Have to agree about the slow news day part.
Happens all the time these days- not just U.K.

Q. Looking at the still photo of (line stretch?) If it was line twists.. wouldn't ALL the lines be twisted? Not all the groups appear to be twisted/wrapped. What am I missing?
Maybe this is a result of a step through or other packing error?

It's the Daily Mail. It isn't SUPPOSED to be news.

Although I DID like the attached headline
...

The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

Yes, it just a matter of copy and paste and some help with word lists. I spend just a few minutes with a copy of the previous work. It is FAR from done. I would enjoy if others would help add to the structure. No profanity, please.

Very rough, but you can get the idea. I have to get up and work tomorrow. I will find time to work though it and see if we can build it up as we go.

Maybe I can work more tomorrow evening on it.
