Possible stolen rig? (Ebay listing - StratoCloud)

Recommended Posts

The photo of the data panel shows a name writen on the reverse of the material. Flipping and rotating the photo shows that the writing says "Robert Johns..."

Could be that the rest of the surname is Johnson or Johnstone, or it may even be one of Bob Johns old rigs?

Hard to remember that far back with detail but Paul Cooley used to jump a stratocloud that looked like that, he moved to alaska and then later moved to washington state. He is still jumping in washington.

Hi Zoso

Stolen? I doubt it .

I'M guessing no one will bid on it. IMO its not even worth the $50 for shipping. Someone could have bought a storage locker full of antiques or found it dumpster diving.

Thats Ebay for you:D

Ask the guy that's selling it, where he got it. He has a god rating.
Get hold of Johns. He still jumps and goes to the Skydiving museum reunions. Should be in their data base. Looks like an old Suitcase rig or Rigger Rob rig.
Might put this in the History section. Someone there can tell you what rig it is, or might want it.
U only make 2 jumps: the first one for some weird reason and the last one that you lived through. The rest are just filler.

Definitely, not a jumper selling this. What's the reserve?

Obviously, the seller hasn't a clue, but that doesn't mean it is stolen.

Rigs show up, out of the blue, for any number of reasons, especially when they are 30+ years old.

The guys in H&T might know more..... :)

I don't think it's stolen. It's old enough and out-dated enough that it's not hard to imagine it ending up in the hands of a whuffo. It could have been left in an apartment/house when a renter moved out, bought at a garage sale or flea market, or bought out of an abandoned storage container auction.

It has very little value at this point, and nobody (in their right mind) is going to spend $250 on that rig.
