JohnMitchell 14 #3 October 13, 2012 The pulled cutaway handle was funny. Why not hang out and finish the skydive? More dangerous to leave early and hang your reserve out super high.

JohnMitchell 14 #8 October 14, 2012 Quote Probably encase another jumper falls on top of him. Exactly. That guy dove off to the basement and pulled his thing with lots of jumpers above him. Heck, it's your reserve. Take it down a little.
popsjumper 2 #9 October 14, 2012 My thought is: He had how many thousands of feet to clear the airspace above him and then deploy reserve? If there is going to be a problem with the reserve, I'd want as much altitude as I can get to fix it.My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. format 0 #10 October 14, 2012 Out of my favorite persons, Kevin is No 1. The way he handled 'out of the blue' problem - impressive! I don't think he's reserve was full above 3500 ft, which is good enough IMO. Great guy
JohnMitchell 14 #11 October 14, 2012 Quote I don't think he's reserve was full above 3500 ft, which is good enough IMO. I watched it again. Maybe it's the wide angle lens or the slow mo, I don't know. It just seems like he left early, disappeared low and then opened a little high. I don't like losing track of people below me. Makes me nervous. Similar thing happened at our DZ once. The guy backed off 50 feet and pulled high, but on level with everyone else. @ Pops - If there's a problem with my reserve, I don't want much time to think about it . . .. Just kidding. But I trust it quite a bit and am comfortable opening at normal altitudes with it.
