gusto77 0 #1 October 17, 2012 Does anyone know if Felix has made any statements about stabilizing after his spin in the thin atmosphere? I guess I'm just wondering if it took any extra effort or talent or if it was just a matter of the normal arch and relax once he hit the part of the atmosphere that was thicker. FallingTiger 0 #3 October 17, 2012 Search for the helmet cam (really chest cam) footage of the jump. When he was on his back and spinning he stuck one arm out to the side to try and stop it. When that didn't work he tried the other arm, and that stopped the spin so that he could get stable again. EDIT: Here's the link to the video: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=fa1_1350274678 The spin starts getting bad at 1:05 and you can see him stick his arms out at 1:15."I'm gonna die young, but I'm gonna be a legend." -Ricky Clinton

jono 0 #7 October 18, 2012 I did see a vid where he commented on how hard it was to figure out what he should do to stop the spin, not only because of the speeds he was traveling but also due to the lack (none) of "feeling" inside his pressurized suit. He said than on a normal dive you can feel the wind pressure against you which gives you feeling on what to do to correct a spin but on this jump he just had to try different things and see what worked. Amazing when you see the footage of the spin how he keeps his cool and manages to flip himself off his back and get belly to earth. Dude is the MAN. potatoman 0 #8 October 18, 2012 Death spin is probably not the word, but that is what the media dubbed it. He said that he was scared of passing out due to g-force etc. and that could potentially have "death"ed him. It was a very rapid spin though. (Hey, let me go see how fast I can spin)You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is.
