Did your parents ask you if you wanted to make a jump?

Recommended Posts

I wish my parents brought me. I'm 34 and just getting into the sport now. There is an awesome video of a field trip to Skydive Chicago with a group of kids. I will definitely be on the PTA at my kids school to make sure those field trips happen.

I wish that had happen.

But I think most of us would agree that we want to transfer our patient to our kids. I don't have kids at the moment but if I do have some, I'll make them jump! Tunnel when they are young and then jump when at the proper age.

Just scared that you get the classic scenario of "My dad does it ... not that cool".

Tho I have 2 very close friends, whuffos, that I will kidnap their kids one sunday afternoon and make them jump! I'll be "that" uncle!

I won't make mine jump, but if they want to I'll help them out in everyway possible, so they can be as prepared and safe as possible.

It's totally a personal decision and would not be hurt to bad if they decided they didn't want to or it wasn't for them.

I agree. We can't MAKE them but knocking them out on their 18th birthday, strapping them to a tandem instructor, and waking them up at 13,000 will probably help them make up their mind. ;)

Did you not want to go?

I asked my sister if she and her daughter wanted to go. They didn't even really think about it before saying yes. I gave them plenty of opportunity to back out, too -- didn't want to drop the $200 for the tandem and $100 for the video guy and have them chicken out on the plane.

They both went through with it, might have helped that I was the first one off the plane on that load. Or the nearly half an hour we put in at the wind tunnel earlier that week...
I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here?

My son has between 25 and 50 prenatal jumps, but has never jumped on his own. Signed up for AFF, but the weather didn't cooperate several weeks in a row, so he ended up figuring it just wasn't for him. He wasn't really all that interested in the first place.

It's not for everyone, really. I would not have paid for his first jump -- his second, yes, but he had to want to enough to pay for his first jump. I'm glad he thinks for himself.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
