DcloudZ 0 #26 August 10, 2012 Not sure if someone else has chosen them as well but here are my two favorite (besides grinding the crack which really got me started on the track to skydiving). A must-view for anyone involved in skydiving (or as an attempt to explain to whuffos what skydiving is like). I find myself connecting to every word that is said in this video: https://vimeo.com/44007931 And secondly, despite how sad this video is I find it to be a great source of inspiration. I really hope to some day achieve a fraction of what this man had before his tragic accident: https://vimeo.com/45841917 Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!"Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts

TampaPete 40 #28 August 10, 2012 I watch this one often to remind myself, as you said, “never give up.” On a different note, I understand that this double mal was initiated by a back flip through the risers. Second lesson: “don’t kill yourself.”

I might be a little biased, though, there is footage there, that was filmed in the air, on the same day that I made my first jump. At Elsinore. May 21, 1978. Nope. @13:41 the woman in the red jumpsuit and white helmet in the back of the Norseman was (at the time) my art history teacher. I was on the ground enduring my FJC. She had a malfunction on that jump, which I saw during a break in training. It's a wonder I ever made any jumps, let alone be the one of the half-dozen of us from school who jumped, to go on to make more jumps than the rest. Elsinore in the late '70s was an incredibly cool and scary place to be. Television and film were different back then so it was interesting to see how this footage was edited and put together. It's also when I saw skydivers for the first time at a demo and knew I wanted to do that when I grew up. lol Then it was forgotten for 25 years until I did. The smile your art history teacher had then is no differnt today with all that's changed.

Glad you like it Lisa. Amazing that you were there! So the crazy sound effects were iconic of the 70's. What about all the extra material in the jumpsuits? Was that just a 70's fashion thing too or did they wear it bc they thought it was functional somehow?
